Take a course BEFORE or AFTER self-study?

I am going to start prepping for the LSAT this summer for June of 2014 while taking 6 credit hours. Then, I am going to finish my last semester in college, graduate in December, and have 5 months of part-time work before the June LSAT. Would it be more advisable to take a course this summer or in my 5 month hiatus from January - May?
I am planning on taking Manhattan online by the way.
EDIT: The class will be paid for.

I would focus on raising/maintaining your GPA this summer and next fall. You can start prepping now for next year’s test if you'd like. I'd hold off on the class until you can gauge whether or not you actually need to take a course. Try the MLSAT books if you have the money and go from there.

I would take the course now, and then do every LSAT ever administered

For a moment I thought you said they were for moobs.
Anyway, I'm going to second (third or fourth?) what others have said. If you have the discipline to self study (and if you're going to law school you should), then don't bother with a course. Use Manhattan, Powerscore, and Blueprint then drill baby drill.

Trust me, I hear what you are saying. However, my current situation is that the course will be completely paid for as a graduation gift (a nice graduation gift, I know - I am very lucky). In this case, my real attraction to the course is knowing that I won't be learning something wrong. I think we have all been in a situation in which we thought we had something nailed down and it actually wasn't. I feel that the course would solidify my knowledge of the material because I wouldn't have to question whether or not I am really understanding everything completely. Thanks for the advice though. Does anyone have anything else to add about taking it before or after?

If you are set on taking a course, do it before. I took a course after I self studied and we had classes learning about contrapositives and shit. If you're PTing in the above a 160, it's a complete waste of time.

Seconded, but not for the waste of time reason. As you said, the person in front of the class will (hopefully) KNOW what's right. If you go in with some bad habits, it's going to slow down your learning, possibly leaving you behind as you try to reconcile what you thought you knew with what's actually correct.

1) Definitely before, if at all. Courses can help with the fundamentals, I guess.
2) Instead of getting a course paid for, why don't you just get the $1000+ they will be paying and use it to buy self-study materials and every PT ever administered, and still have money left over?
