Re: What #2 Pencil Should I use?
My local Staples doesn't have the regular Ticonderoga's. Had to settle for the TRI's. The grip is mad uncomfortable and the eraser keeps falling out :/

That's such a bummer, I was going to try them out, but after only seeing negative reviews, I'm not going to. I had high hopes. Oh well, I'll just stick to yellows.CardozoLaw09 wrote:My local Staples doesn't have the regular Ticonderoga's. Had to settle for the TRI's. Dude, all else equal, why would you NOT want a better pencil?90convoy wrote:What I'm saying is that the pencil is not the main tool that allows you to do well on the LSAT. Your brain is. With a samurai the sword is.

My thoughts:
The original Mirado Black Warrior was an excellent pencil. After switching production location to Mexico, the quality fell; it is only a shell of its former self. If you get the originals from Amazon, you won't be disappointed.
The Eberhard Faber Mongol 482 is also a fine pencil (and the first pencil found in the now-ubiquitous standard yellow) but it is tough to find in the US. You'll have to make a journey to South America, but it may be worth it.
Finally, the Palomino Blackwing 602, a revival of the fabled Eberhard Faber Blackwing 602, is a true master's pencil. Palomino earned plaudits for reviving the pencil, listening to the concerns and criticisms of pencil enthusiasts, and redesigning it yet again to even more closely resemble the original Blackwing design. True devotion to pencil craftsmanship.
Edit, some links:

I was going to buy the Eberhard Faber Mongol 482, but the description says the eraser is crap

I personally don't like the extra eraser cap things because they always break, instead I opt for a separate bar eraser. Also, black warrior pencils are the shit.

What bar eraser do you use? I hate those pink ones. They are hard and don't erase good.

hard lead, soft eraser - that's exactly what you're looking for. also, have you considered just marking one good solid dash for the answer instead of bubbling? I think that would work, and might save you time enough to review a couple answers for that always shitty RC section.

$1.25 each is legit, but if you want to go a little more top shelf, go with the Pentel Hi-Polymer. 3-pack on amazon is $4.80 - they're a stylish blue, and you probably only have to rub them over your mistake once.

I think you can request hand-grading for a small fee, right? If I had to do this all over again, I would be spending no more than like three quick slashes on the answer, not circle bubbling like a dork while the clock is ticking.

Is the attached eraser good on the black warriors?mg7 wrote:I personally don't like the extra eraser cap things because they always break, instead I opt for a separate bar eraser. Also, black warrior pencils are the shit.
+1 in not liking the cap erasers

The black warrior looks attractive, but my concern is the shape of it. It is round. Not 6 sided like the Black Ticonderoga. I really don't like round pencils. They hurt my relatively skinny fingers.

Everything about the Mirado Black Warrior is solid except the grip. If you drop it because your hands are sweaty, it's gonna roll fast. I would recommend taking a little sandpaper to it to counteract this effect, provided that you're OK compromising the smooth black finish which gives you a confidence boost.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
