I agree, it's a good time to have pain meds. All legally prescribed of course.

I am. Goal for February is 165 or higher. Realistically expect anything in 163-167 range. I took February (1st time) for the "experience" factor and that I believed I had a punchers chance of cracking 170. I will retake June..eventually want 170s or higher. I am a splitter, so with my GPA I would love UPenn or Michigan. An insane score like 173 or 174 would give me a chance at U-Chicago (dream school). If I can't crack 170, I'm out of the t-14. Everything for me is now riding on the lsat..

time to get to work :)

So untrue. I believe you meant you are a reverse splitter - high GPA relative to LSAT. I say relative because a low LSAT score will keep you out of the T14, whereas a high LSAT score, such as a 164, which is 90th percentile, may also not be good enough, but is nonetheless a strong score and will make you competitive at other really good schools, just not T14. (i.e. Fordham, BC, USC, ND, Vanderbilt, GW, USC, etc.)

With that being said, http://lawschoolnumbers.com/. Depending on your GPA, which I am assuming is 3.8+, I'm almost certain that a 169 will get you into one of Berkeley, NYU, Penn, Duke, UVA, and perhaps all of the above. A 168 will probably get you into one as well. A 167 should get you into Cornell and Georgetown, and a 166 will give you a chance as well, perhaps >50%. I would say 165 is the minimum to have a chance, unless you are an URM, then you still have a chance with lower LSAT scores. Also, if you are applying next cycle you will be amongst the first people to send in applications, which from what I understand is a HUGE advantage for reach schools, but not necessarily a disadvantage for schools at which you are at median or above.

I did exactly what you did the first time around (Feb. 2012) re the "experience" factor, even down to the same expected score range. I scored in the mid 160s and became somewhat complacent. If I could do things over, I would have started prepping for June 2012. This Feb. LSAT was a last minute decision. I really wasn't prepared but I felt like I had nothing to lose since I had already secured some pretty decent acceptances. Hope you hit your target, man. Good luck!

I'm applying next fall, as I'm just a junior in undergrad at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised with a score from 166-176, but I'm really just hoping for a 170. I figured if I get that now I can just chill out and enjoy the rest of undergrad, and if not I can retake in June/October. Shooting for Penn/NYU/Columbia, so hopefully medians keep dropping and less and less people take the LSAT for the next cycle!

And at this point, every email I get the first thing I think of is to look if it's from LSAC.

Every word of that applies exactly to me as well. Although I graduated in May 2012 so I really don't want to wait another year. Hopefully we all killed it. Felt so confident after the test, but the more I think about it, the more I have doubts.

I have an unremarkable GPA. High 3.40s right now, will be low 3.40s after this final semester. I am a splitter in the ordinary sense. For t-14, I certainly need a 170 or above.

Appreciate it man, good luck to you as well! Are you thinking about retaking in June? I feel like with our score range, with 3 more months of prep 170s is attainable.

Gotcha. Then in that case I think a 169 will give you a shot at Cornell and Georgetown, especially applying very early in the cycle. How big of a shot? that I don't know. But last year Georgetown's median was 169, and Cornell 167. Those numbers could drop again this year. High LSATs are more valuable than ever before. But hey the way I look at it is every point matters no matter what. Higher score, more scholarship $. For example, if you want to work in NY, so if you miss out on T14, scholarship to Fordham isn't too shabby. I think the schools outside the T14 will really struggle to get high LSAT scorers and will have no choice but to cough up the dough.

Having a job in front of a computer with pending LSAT scores is simply the worst.

Nah. I missed that boat already (I'm definitely enrolling in the fall). To decode a post I made above, my goal in deciding to retake at the last minute was either or all of an NYU/Columbia scholly and a Yale acceptance. I feel like I scored at or below my first try, though. So I doubt I'll get any of those, but we'll see how it goes from here.

This is basically the exact same as my situation, except that I'm really not very picky about the school, obviously I have preferences haha, but really I just want t14 with the most scholarship money I can get :D

There are more successful lawyers with sub 165 scores than 165+. But good luck. I PT'd 170+ though I also have a pessimistic view and think I will end up in the mid 160s. One thing is for sure, this grueling wait is coming to an end!

That would be awesome, but someone else on the previous page said that they had just gotten a form requesting a clarification of their ss#, so that doesn't bode well for us.

Not to be a debbie downer but im pretty sure this is because there are a lot more sub 165 scores than 165+. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the ratio of successful lawyers in the pool of <165 score is lower than >165, aka its "more likely" youll be succesful with a 165+

That is the most logically fallacious way to look at LSAT scores I have ever heard. There may be more successful lawyers with sub 165 scores than 165+ but that is only because there are so many MORE TOTAL lawyers with sub 165 lawyers. If you look at a proportion, I would be willing to bet my LSAT score that a higher PROPORTION of 165+ lawyers are successful.
