Obviously MLSAT is the bomb, but the online format makes me a bit nervous. Has anyone taken an online course from them, or does anyone know someone who has? If so, what were your/their thoughts?

No personal experience but their website claims you can try the class for free.

No different from an offline setting, really. All classes are held via Elluminate and its quite interactive. They send you a headset so you can arrange for setup to be engaged in the class (ie you should be prepared to speak in the class).

You will usually have about two instructors in each class setting - they divide what is being taught that session (at least two topics are covered per class) and you're free to private message one instructor if you were confused about something. There is a blackboard that displays something similar to powerpoint slides, but you also get to write on the blackboard depending on how interactive your lesson for the day. You have smilie emoticons, options to click on if you have a question and answer choices (ABCDE) when the class is presented with a review question or problem set before or during class.

Overall, its a great e-learning experience and like the above OP said, try the first online session for free to see if you like the set up.

Does Elluminate work OK over a 3G (wireless) connection?

Elluminate does work on mobile devices.

I believe if you go to http://www.elluminate.com, you can find a testing room.

The online course is awesome, as long as you commit to actually sitting down and doing it. I did the prerecorded lectures and got quite a bit out of it, I can see that the live lectures would be good people that care about participating in class (you can voice chat with the teacher/other students).
