Are the proctors supposed to give some type of 5 or 1 minute warning? And even if not, I suppose many of them do. Right?

One 5 minute warning is announced each section.

So I bought one of those LSAT watches that just goes up to 35 minutes (I wanted an analog watch with big numbers and this one cost about the same as a cheap regular watch). I put little lines on it at about 8.5 minutes to help pace LG and RC. The description of the watch says it's LSAC-approved, but does anyone know if it's ok with the little marks added? I'll probably call LSAC or the company that makes the watch and ask and I'm probably being paranoid, but I'd be screwed if I showed up to the test and couldn't use my watch.

You'll be fine.

I'll be using this...with a unidirectional bezel I can move to the second hand at the end of each section.

Woo! Took PT 50. This is the first relatively recent test I have taken in a while that wasn't a test I had taken in its entirety before. I thought I was doing poorly on LR, but ended up with a 176.

RC: -4
LR: -0
LG: -0
LR: -1

Is Superprep Test A supposed to be really easy? I took it this morning and finished every section with 5+ minutes to spare.

LR1: -1 (#13)
RC: -1 (#9)
LG: -0
LR2: -2 (#13, 25)

Raw: 97 --> Scaled: 177

As I said, really easy. Question #25 on LR2 was awful, though. I spent 7 minutes just re-reading and re-reading. I don't even care that I got it wrong, it was that terrible of a question.

I've found an RC strategy that works for me. I start by addressing the passages in order of my personal difficulty, and saving the easiest ones for last (sciences then law then culture/literature ones which I BREEZE through with -1).

Then for the questions I start with the ones that ask for the authors option/implication of word choices, then move to the overall purpose of the question, then the rest of them.

I think I'm going to add reading the science section of the economist into my RC study strategy because I miss points there like crazy.

PT 63:

LR1: -0
LG: -0
LR2: -0
RC: -2

Raw: 99 Scaled: 179

Super pissed off at myself right now, as I switched the second to last answer after doubting my answer, and got it wrong. So damn close to my first 180 PT. Kind of a rough scale, but an insanely easy test.

My exact numbers for October... damn -2.

Congrats on the 179 though. Nice place to be with a month left.

As instructed, i forwent a PT today to study the MLSAT LR book... And i got through the first 10 chapters, while most of it was review, I feel i have solidified my understanding of argument core, but i still have trouble with weaken problems. For weaken problems I'm trying to find a flaw between a premise and a conclusion and find the correct answer that addresses that flaw, but does not resolve that flaw. In fact, if possible, the correct answer will exacerbate the flaw. Correct?

Took the June 2008 Test today.

Score: 164
Previous Scores: 163, 159

Section 1 RC: -8
Section 3 LR: -5
Section 4 LG: -2
Section 5 LR: -2

Experimental LR: -2

I got torn the hell up by the RC today... To be honest, I have essentially been foregoing the RC homework for my Testmasters course up until this point because on my first Diagnostic I essentially had no idea what I was doing on the LG and tanked it. I seem to have more or less figured LG out at this point, so I just need to refine that and LR, and focus on figuring out how to become literate. Doing every RC problem that I've missed so far should help.

Now that I'm done with finals, I plan on catching up on all the homework I've missed, which is like 70% of it, and keeping up with the new stuff. I'm sure that'll make an impact to some degree.

If any of you wise men and women have any advice, I'm all ears.

Yeah. You're trying to widen the gap. Don't go for premise or conclusion weakeners, make sure you're actively attacking the logic of the argument, not the facts of the argument.

Ya, i think that is what i intuitively do. I go for something that mentions either the premise or conclusion and actively weakens it. I need to focus more on the logic of the argument, rather than the premise or conclusion... Thanks

Averaging roughly -6 per 2 LR sections (usually -3 per section, but I've had some scattered -1s, 2s and 4s). How long has it generally taken those who have 'mastered' LR - meaning, consistent 0s and -1s, to do so? I have been studying for about six weeks and aim to take in June. Mainly, I've been drilling pt LR sections as well as PS LR question type training from preptests 1-20. I should note that prior to study, my average was about -8 per section.

So PTA S4 Q25

The argument boils down to because the idea gets in the way of surviving it cannot be true. That's what A says in a super convoluted way.

-8 a section to -3 a section is a huge increase in six weeks, congrats. I can't claim to have mastered LR, as I'm prone to some bad LR sections every so often, but it took around 6-8 weeks to start getting down to a usual -1 or so on LR sections. Are you getting any certain question types wrong consistently?

Well, flaw ?s were initially my bane, but I rarely miss one now. Principle questions have started to give me trouble lately. I seem to get one wrong every 2 of 3 sections or so. And even when I get one right, I'm rarely confident in the answer (though I usually get it down to 2 choices). MSS (or MBT) also give me regular problems.

Hey gang! Would any of you scoring in the 170+ be down to do test reviews from PT40 on up? This would be for LR and RC. I'm thinking two hours for each test to thoroughly go over each question back and forth. It doesn't even have to be limited to 40s. If you are, PM me!

Getting cold feet now...shoulda prepped more in February and March when I had the chance.

We'll see where I'm at a few days before test date change...but for now unless I see about a point jump from high 150s to mid 160s in two weeks...October, here I come.
