Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
The course is only useful if you have problems with motivation. Otherwise, self study is the way to go, especially if you are an above average scorer.rainofglory wrote:rigs321 wrote:Well I'll be joining this group after the disappointment that was Dec test, my first one. About 7 points lower than practice and it's all LG's fault! I failed hard at that section and the other ones remained what I was PTing at, so will focus my studies on getting LGs down. This will push me back a cycle, but worth it so look forward to posting here in the next few months!
We had similar results. I did great on LG, but sucked at LR. And scored lower than I did on all my PT's. My focus will be to maintain my LG while improving LR and RC.
Anyone else taking a course or is this group mostly self studies? I wonder if the $$ I'm considering spending on a prep will be better spent on purchasing more materials and studying on my own....

Welcome to all the December takers, but sorry your scores were lower than you wanted! 5 months to go.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
how many hours are you guys averaging a day? im doing 4 hours a day so far...did 350 LR questions in the last 7 days (just counted off my calendar lol) and other crap that would take too long to write. Should i be doing more? After reading all the posts from the december thread of people saying they scored 7 or more points below their PT average im starting to get a little worried.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
I am also preparing for another test, it depends on my schedule. I usually manage to complete a LG section in the morning, then couple ( up to 15) LR questions, after dinner I will do a RC section. So probably over 2 hours, but it could be longer because I don't time myself on LR and RC.shieldofachilles wrote:how many hours are you guys averaging a day? im doing 4 hours a day so far...did 350 LR questions in the last 7 days (just counted off my calendar lol) and other crap that would take too long to write. But I DO know I need to add more hours on, especially seeing Dec TLS takers wound up lower than their average PTs.
I am thinking about 5-6 hours.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
Hi, I'm in.
Did testmasters, took october 2012, 168 (RC: -7 LR: -1 LG -5)
Studied LR and it's my strong suit. didn't study RC and LG adequately.
Shooting for 178+, last 3 scored PTs being (180 178 176)
Living near Torrance, CA. I'm open to meeting up with a dedicated study partner.
Going to use:
1. All PTs available
2. Powerscore
3. LSATQA.com
4. Hacking the LSAT by the Graeme, the reddit/r/lsat guy
5. Kaplan's explanations
6. Some testmaster stuff, although their textbook is mostly just questions
And maybe purchase other stuff like LSAT Clarity and Otis Comorau etc.
Right now I'm only doing ~4. But going to shoot for 12 hours per day, realistically 8~10/day.
PM me if you want to discuss anything lsat related,

10 hours a day...70 hours a week. I kind of cringed when i saw that number lol. Im putting in on average anywhere from 28-35 hours a week. Considering if i should throw in an extra ten....not 30. Ideas lol?

I have a friend who did 12 hours everyday for two months and got a 170 for June 2012 LSAT. She said it was exhausting.....
But I guess that depends. Please do share with us how do you feel about it.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
yea im taking advantage of having the next two weeks off to get through all the conceptual stuff so i can focus strictly on drilling when school starts. I doubt ill be able to do 40 50 hours a week with a full class load but ill sure as hell tryDaily_Double wrote:To be fair, I've probably been doing anywhere from 4-8/day for most of Christmas break, but I don't plan on, or think I'm physically capable of, sustaining this work ethic, for five months. And I'm doing timed sections of PT 7, February 1993, at the moment, I just ravaged LG with a -1 in 32 minutes, although it should be noted that I have taken one of the games, Dr. Yamata's appointments at least once, probably twice, before today in the LGB and Manhattan's book. I'll post more numbers when I'm through.shieldofachilles wrote:Seriously lol...holy shit...i think this might be what it take to break into the 170s though...i did about 5 today...ill do 12 tmro and let you know how it feelsDaily_Double wrote:Surely you mistyped this and meant 8-10 hours/week? Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
Hey guys,
I was planning on applying this cycle (had all of my apps complete, minus the LSAT), however, I didn't do very well. Here's to sitting out this cycle, retaking, and applying.
Good luck with your studies!

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
Super lurk here. New to everything so all help/feedbacks are welcomed and encouraged.
Got a 164 and a 167 on my previous two dates with LSAT. Heartbroken. BUT will be back for one more this June.
Unfortunately I have already done all the PTs (thanks to Testmasters), but I am hoping fellow TLSers will help pushing me to the next level.
Cheers to 2013!

So the June curve is generally the worst. http://lsatblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/ea ... -june.html
Any idea why this is? Since it is predetermined (right?), I doubt it accounts for the later start time?
