LG Question, PT 38, Game 1

Postby josh321 » Sun Nov 18, 2012 5:32 pm

Wondering if anyone can help me with this please. Preptest 38 - Logic Game 1, Problem # 3 for some reason I don't see why W becomes a floater. Thank You.

My scenario looks like this

1:R 2:T/W 3: W/T 4:V 5:Y/S 6:S/Y 7:Z 8:Q

We know by POE that A,B,D, and E are impossible given the configuration; "R" has to be 1st so that knocks out A), "T" has to be 2nd or 3rd so that knocks out B), "V" has to be 3rd or 4th because the only possibilities are: RTV etc. OR RTWV etc. so that knocks out D), and E) is knocked out because since "Z" is 7th and Q must come after "Z" then "Q" can only be 8th.

"W" is thus a floater because the only thing we know about W is that it comes after "R" though we do not know how far along the chain it comes after.

With C) the configuration is: R T V S/Y W Y/S Z Q which is perfectly acceptable
