What separates A from B? I find it extremely tough to differentiate between the two.

Ok ,here is your answer A says thesis(sth that is proved) is offered,specific cases (examples) are ddiscussed and evaluation (the author`s view about that thesis)the author gives his own opinion how he felt about it .
B is wrong because of that part qualified which means to qualify a claim is to limit (in that sense),also the last part call into question that means evidence that weakens his thesis which clearly is not in there.
