Full Length PT from Test You've Seen Before
What do you think about the value of doing something like that? I have somewhere around 12 untouched PTs left but I feel like more full length practice would help me a lot more than doing individual sections so I was considering dusting off a few that I haven't touched in a few months and tacking on a PT every other day (as opposed to 2 a week like I've been doing). Thoughts? Suggestions? Yay or nay?

Only got a month + week or so left and I really want to get over the 174 hump I seem to be stuck at. Every other day may be a little ambitious though, maybe add in an old one every week to make it 3 a week instead of 2.Wormfather wrote:Old PTs still valuable
But going a PT every other day with worthwhile review is an express ticket to Burnoutsville

I disagree with that. Especially in preparation for Saturday test dates, you should be taking 3 PTs a week: Tues/Thurs/Sat.Wormfather wrote:Old PTs still valuable

You really need to get into a rhythm for taking the test. Although I strongly advise against back-2-back days of PTs. I don't understand why some people on these forums do that.

My normal routine is Tuesday and Thursday atm. I took one yesterday because I wasn't able to take one Tuesday.boblawlob wrote:I disagree with that. Especially in preparation for Saturday test dates, you should be taking 3 PTs a week: Tues/Thurs/Sat.Wormfather wrote:Old PTs still valuable

In my experience, the less "memorable" the games, the easier it is to retake them without remembering something that would give you an edge on that particular PT.
LR tends to fade away quickest since there's so many of them, while RC is where I really seem to have an unfair advantage the second time. I never forget an RC I've read before and I usually get more correct no matter how long ago I've done it.
For what its worth I have a few in my PT cycle that are going to be repeats.

I was doing a PT a day with full review and didn't hit burn out. I think burn out is fairly relative to your desire to do it

Took PT 59 today which I last took in June (164) and scored a 176. On about 2 of the LRs I had a good suspicion of what I was looking for and RC, 2 passages were familiar but no answers could be remembered. All in all, I do think it is useful, if inflated a few points.

Re: Full Length PT from Test You've Seen Before
I repeated every test from 40-66 for my October retake, some twice... and I found it very helpful. That said, with so much unseen material and just over a month to go, I recommend focusing mostly on new material. You can certainly gain valuable insights from repeating tests, but you can also gain them from new material, which will also be a better gauge of your progress. And with 5 weeks or so to go, that'll give you about 3 tests per week if you work only with unseen material. If you had infinite time, repeating most tests would be great, but you're working on a smaller window of time and so you really don't have that luxury to mix in a lot of repeat tests. If you do repeat tests, they should be the most recent ones, and you haven't seen them yet.
I recommend taking at least one of 65 and 66 (if not both) as soon as possible and really breaking it down. I thought 65 and 66 were very similar tests in terms of LR and LG, and both seemed very similar to 67. RC was toughest on 65, but LR and LG I would say are more or less identical on 65-67 (slight edge to 67). To me, LR from 63-64 felt different from 65-67, and then 59-62 had a pretty similar feel as well.
I think it's really important to take one of those newest tests as soon as you can because it's likely to give you a sigh of relief in terms of LR. In the past 3 released tests, LR has been challenging but very straightforward.
I probably wouldn't bother with the SuperPreps if you've gone this long without seeing them (except possibly the RC). The games and LR are likely to just give you an unnecessary headache and are pretty different from what you'll see on test day in my opinion.
Also, do you test on Saturday as well as Tuesday/Thursday? If not, I highly recommend finding a spot at a library or classroom and trying to psych yourself up for a real test each Saturday and at the same time as you'll be taking the December test. Nerves will be running high on test day, and the more acclimated you can get yourself the better off you'll be...

Re: Full Length PT from Test You've Seen Before
I was planning on saving PT65 and PT66 for immediately before the Dec test, but taking them once now, then repeating a month from now seems like a much better idea. Thanks.cahwc12 wrote:I repeated every test from 40-66 for my October retake, some twice... and I found it very helpful.
