Strong wtf at PT 54 LR2, #16 ... why isn't B right?

Taking PT 62 this weekend ... actually pretty excited. For the first time in what seems like a while I've made marked gains. If I could just get under -2 in LG ....

Damn, just did pt 12, finished the first three games in about 17 mins. Then got to "flasks" and just "zoned" out. Can't let that happen, again. One thing i'm focusing on this time around is really cutting down my time on those easier games to give me a nice bank for a much harder game(s).

You guys incorporating some vague/rare games of the earlier PT's to aid with flexibility and what not? Chances are slim of seeing anything to crazy, but then again were talking about the LSAC here:/

I'm doing PT 12 tomorrow. I''ve been pushing for doing old games, such as this one. If you're running short on time though, I'd recommend the games in the 30's.

Just did a 171 on a PT (-1 on LG, -3 on RC, and -6 on LRs). Only downside is that I consistently got 170+ prior to October and still ended up with a 166. *shakes fist* I'm guessing anxiety is going to take a couple points off of my potential no matter what, so I should focus on scoring 173+ on PTs so on test day I have a cushion of a couple points.

I'm running out of 4 star logic games and RC passages in my Kaplan materials. Any ideas for free sites where you can select questions based on difficulty?

How do you guys retake PTs!? I looked into redoing a PT from MAY (6 months ago!), and started the 1st LR section. I straight up remembered the answers to 90% of the section, so I gave up on the test, as it would be a completely inaccurate representation of my score.

I can't speak for everyone but I've personally done every PT 2-3 times (120+) and after a while, all questions start to look the same and you're just reading for logic. I definitely consider my results tainted, so I try to mention its a retake when I post my score. For me, there's not much else I can do but aim for 180 and really beat myself up for every miss I continue to make.

Btw al,
I'm putting my money where my mouth is, I printed all 27 RC's I haven't done recently and I'm gonna drill just like one would do with LG, doing 3 every day I don't have a PT planned (In addition to my LG regimen). I might use them as my experimental to get thru them faster. Will it help? probably some, not a whole lot. All i know is I'm not gonna let ~13 hours of work hold me back from my destiny!

I agree with Chad. Even if you do remember the answers, re-taking it can still be helpful. Sometimes I would re-do games three or four times in a row just to really drill it in and make sure I understood it.

The trick is, don't just say "oh I remember this, the answer is A" and then move on. Approach the questions as you normally would. Take the time to articulate to yourself why four answers are wrong and one is correct. Maybe even write it down. Aim for 100% accuracy. If you miss one, review it as hard as you can (probably even cut it out and put it in a notebook with other missed questions that you'll review again later) because if you miss a question that you've already taken and gone over, there's probably something in the reasoning that you are missing.

Yes, your score will be an inflated score. But who the heck cares? The point of taking preptests isn't to get an accurate score. It's to get better at the test so that your score on the ACTUAL test will be as high as possible. Don't shun re-doing tests just because you think your score will be inflated. Re-doing practice tests is actually a great study tool. It helps you practice endurance, practice new techniques (such as writing 3-5 words after every RC passage that a lot of people in this thread are doing now), and see patterns in the questions you are getting wrong for the second (or third or fourth) time.

Did a RC section (untimed) yesterday and LR section yesterday. -3 on each

Did another RC section today timed: -3

The tricky thing about RC answer choices is watching out for the 1 word modifiers. Of course my timing is really bad for RC. I went 12 mins (art), 8 mins (cultural), 8 min (legal), and 7 min (science).

What helped me speed up was for the science passage, bp shinners said that for any paragraph that details how a process works, just skim it real quick and label it "science" so you know to refer back to it when a detail oriented question about the process is asked. No need to get bogged down in the details and just focus with the central idea at hand.

Onwards to more drilling...

Is it much different than 50s/60s?

you know, not really. LG is tough (how i like it). RC is a bit easier, yes. LR is worded differently (sometimes in a strange, counter-intuitive way). Either way, it's good practice even for some of us who did the cambridge bundles and remember some of the questions because they appear completely differently in the context of a full section.
