Does anyone know if withdrawing from the lsat count towards the limit of 3 tests every 2 years?

I withdrew a couple of weeks before the june LSAT, because I wasn't ready. If I screwed up on the October (first time I actually took the exam), I'm not sure if I want to retake the Dec or wait a year to apply and come back really strong.

Withdrawals do not count towards your LSAT limit of 3 tests. October would be considered your first, and December (if you take it) would be your second.

Back on that LSAT grind today. Upon returning to studying the first LR and RC timed sections I did were cake. A poster stated that after taking time off from extensive studying (OCT 12'), somewhat like a burnout break, short term memory seems to settle into habitual instilled processes? Anyhow, my speed and key deductions on the LG sections is all gone (9-10 mins/game)!!!!

-So, if you have begun prepping [Again] what are your initial reactions upon entering the world of LSAT for another crack at it?

Almost 2 weeks since the LSAT. Haven't done any studying. I know I have to get back into it but I can't have motivation until I find out my October score.

I have not studied since the October administration and I won't start until I see my test results come October 26 or 29! I may very well be back here for a very busy November.

^^ same. praying I have a decent score so I don't have to do this again but if it's not I'm hitting Manhattan LR guide & Cambridge within 24hrs of getting that score.

steady improvement over the last couple weeks, my last 3 tests have all been higher than where i was stuck for a good month.

anyway, how are you guys going about the new logic games? i didn't really start hitting the 60 PTs until recently and i'm getting 3-4 wrong mostly due to time whereas on the earlier tests i was going 0 or -1. not getting as many inferences and now i feel like you just have to power through.

Checking in here. Got a 164 on October's test, which is about where I was PTing.

Just ordered the new Manhattan bundle, and plan to work through those like mad in the next couple weeks.

Good luck guys!

So I'm not really sure what happened, I thought at best I got a 163 and at worst I got a 158...so when I opened my e-mail and saw 152 my first thought was that LSAC screwed up. I didn't intend to spend the night having a pity party for myself, I meant to drill, but the network in my house is all screwed up from Sandy and my printer refused to print my Cambridge bundles and everytime I tried to talk abut it with my parents I just started crying...probably didn't help that I chose to watch the last 3 episodes of Grey's Anatomy from last season because that just made me even more depressed and I wasn't sure if I was crying because of my LSAT score or because of Grey's. Even though I do find it mildly amusing that after June I had nothing to lose because I couldn't do any worse than a 154...apparently I can.

I actually kinda wish I hadn't been PTing around 160-162, I saw 164 and 165 and 166 at one point. I've gotten perfect games, gone -2 on RC and -3 on LR so I can't even really say that I just don't know what's going on, I wish I didn't know what was going at least that would give me something to go off of. I honestly have no idea what happened, I wasn't even nervous. Zones was a bitch and the section after that I was distracted but other than that I thought everything was fine. So now I have a 154 and a 152 with a 3.3 GPA so now I feel like I need a 170 just to make up for those scores and then find some way to explain what happened when I have no idea. This will be a fun month...and I was looking forward to getting my social life back, guess that's gonna have to wait.

that advice is spot on. retaking with a 158..so much anger at the moment. just need to channel it into refining my skillz for timed setting. but studying again with 18 credits is going to be nothing short of a bitch.

Wormfather wrote:Posted this in the OCT Waiters but placing it here as well:

Now for us who are retaking. We studied hard, I know you did, I followed the retakers' and the study group threads. I saw the initial reactions to PT67 and as far as I can surmise the one thing we mostly have in common is that we have been inflexible. We went in expecting one thing and got another, we learned a test and they decided to test skills again. WE HAVE THE SKILLS, we just didnt see what we expected and reacted poorly. As Noodley would suggest, we need to spend the next four weeks learning the test as if we were going to interview to be a test writer. For now I leave you with these three pieces of advice (this advise assumes the you have the basics down and were PTing close to your goal).

LR - Focus - When the difference between right and wrong is one word, this will be key
RC - Confidence - When you dont understand a sentence, only confidence will allow you to keep reading until the end of the paragraph at which point you will (instead of reading it over and over)
LG - Composure - Look at everyone who did well on zones, they all say that it was wierd at first but after a minute they got it. That's composure

We have to retake, this may be the best cycle in years and for years to come. Dec is a month away so there's little time to sulk and "get back into it". DRINK TONIGHT, but tomorrow, yes TOMORROW, we study.

Meet me in the retakers' thread.

Yeah, I'm a dick, but we're all in this together.

When applying to schools, presumably in late December after getting those scores, what should one do in terms of explaining a retake? I scored below my PT average but there were no circumstances that could explain the poor performance.

Hey guys, I'm in this with all of you. I was averaging about 168 on the last 20 PTs that I did before the Oct exam and I unfortunately found out today that I got a 161 on the real test. This is going to be a rough month. We can all do it though! Tomorrow is day 1.

Oct 2012:

LR (1): -4
LR (2):-5
RC: -7
LG: -8 (my worst result in many months.... :( )
