score ranges

Post by NoodleyOne » Thu Oct 04, 2012 5:20 am

I'm curious because i see people ranging from 160s to 170s as to what your pt range has been this round of prep. Personally my low was 173 (twice) and my high was 178 (three of the last four exams) with an average over my last five of 177.2, last ten at 176.6, and over all 16 of 175.8. How confident are you guys in reaching your target score? What type of swings have you experienced and to what do you owe said swings?

Here are my recent score. It is craziness.

178, 167, 170, 167, 167, 167, 170, 177.

Taking one today. If I don't end with something between 170 and 178 I will go insane.

I don't know my exact numbers but my average is almost exactly at 170. High of 179 and a low of 163, both of those were anomalies though. Excluding those two it's basically 168-174 range. The low was because i tried to do a PT right before bed and started falling asleep half way through and I wish i could figure out what caused that high. Did it outside is the only thing different I guess

I've ranged from 161 (anomaly) to 174 (3x). Going into the test, I have a 5 PT average of 168.6, 10 PT average of 168.5, and overall (19 PTs) of 167.5. I've been in the 170s for 7 of the last 11 PTs.

My lowest scores this round of prepping were 161 and 162. Both of those I am almost certain it was a combination of lack of sleep for several days/skipping various meals for several days and generally not being in good physical condition. This week I've been concentrating on getting decent sleep and eating lots of calories at each meal so that my brain is running like a well-oiled machine on test day. As long as I'm well physically and I'm not totally thrown by a particular LG game or RC passage, I'm confident I'll be able to hit my target score of 170+.

49: 173
50: 169
61: 173
62: 175
63: 175
64: 177
65: 178
66: 169
Most of the prep this time around (second LSAT) was on individual sections and not full PTs. So only did these full PTs.

I felt really, really great until PT 66 today. My last PT, before the test. Now, not so much. Such is life.

^^^ That is why I opted not to take a practice test today. My last one was a 177 and I didn't want to have to mentally deal with the certain decrease right before the real thing.

Plus...I am burned out and school has come crashing down around me due to my neglect in favor of the LSAT.

So yeah, average over the last five is now 177.6, with 2 177s and 3 178s. I will be severely pissed if I don't hit one of those two scores now.

I forgot to answer this part. I am confident I will reach my target score of 170+.

My swings are due to logic games. If I get a logic games section that clicks then I will score 170+. If not...well...I will have to rely on my GPA to bring that 167 LSAT up. Most of those 167s are due to some SERIOUS LG problems.

Yeah, but I found a silver lining.

There is no way in hell I will be cocky come test day. I guess that's something..

Confident I will get a 170+ and I guess that's really my goal at the end of the day.

If I remember correctly, you had seen all of these tests prior to June, correct? I would be cautious of expecting Saturday's test to be in the same range as material you've already seen.

This is my range since I resumed studying from June. (R = Repeat, w =taken as Warm-up, x=taken as experimentals)

I feel like I've made some good gains, but I also know that seeing repeat material has skewed my scores even if only slightly. I know that my RC has improved substantially since June (I've done a ton of drilling), and my LR is definitely more solid than it was. I feel like my games has been about the same, maybe very slightly worse; but I haven't been prepping games at all and a lot of the non-0 scores were sections I finished with 7-10 minutes leftover and refused to let myself double check. I tend to make a silly mistake here and there that I almost always catch in double-checking, but when I retake an exam I don't allow myself to double check at all. What really helped me to start consistently nailing -0's heading into June (-1) was the ability to create that double-checking time, and I think if I had just allowed myself that time remaining on these games sections, most would have been -0's.

In all, I think I'm definitely feeling confident heading into Saturday, and would set my target range around 173, although I certainly wouldn't rule out 175+. I would be happy with anything 173+, but anything over the 168 I got in June would be an improvement. I'd like a 180 but I will not intentionally gun for it because I know that there's a good chance I'll just get had by an LR, RC or LG question, and I don't want that question to impair my ability to finish a section (especially if it's thrown out a la #17 on 66 games).

I know I said in the other thread I most fear RC-RC-X-X-X but honestly, I don't really fear RC at all anymore and I think that's going to help heading into Saturday (-7 in June).

Anyway, in short I expect to hit somewhere around or a couple points south of my post-June PT average, but I wouldn't really be surprised with any score 173-180. It's just going to depend how things shake out on game day.

Only one I saw was 66, and that was in June and not reviewed. Everything was fresh. Hence my confidence.

Here are my tests (once again, all fresh except for 66) since I started studying for this exam...

Note: I took PT 29 and 31 cold without any additional prep (namely Manhattan LR guide), so I feel those scores are in no way indicative of my abilities.

What did you use to study with for June? 50s only?

That's awesome then and you should be definitely feeling high on confidence!

Over 8 tests, my average has been a 172.3, my average is 173.4 over the last 5 tests.

My lowest was 169 (once), and my highest is a 175 (twice)

If I score between my average of 172-173, I will be happy.

If I score a 171 or below, I am retaking in December.

According to LSAC the confidence interval of the LSAT is +/- 3 points. Big swings are normal.
