I had chosen to write LSAT this October, back in june... but i am finding that i am not very ready, i mean i know i won't get the 170 i am aiming for as i am still averaging at 165... so i was wondering if i should take December test or do the october one anyways since i signed up for it/??

Is there any advantage with writing it in October? or any disadvantage writing it on December? Worst case scenario would be me retaking the test in Feb (Since most law schools im applying to consider Feb LSAT as well) ... So shall i cancel my appointment?

Please let me know what you think, because i don't want to risk getting a low mark, and neither do i want something being a hurdle on the applying and acceptance process...

You can cancel just before midnight (EST) of the night of October 5th, so if you think you can make strides there's no reason you should cancel now rather than later.

You can also take the test the day of, and if you think you did bad, you can cancel it afterwards. This is different from cancelling it online the night before, it will leave a note on your LSAC records that says "cancellation". Withdrawing before this does nothing

Insofar as your score is concerned, there's not really any disadvantages cancelling it and taking it in December. Same with February. The test doesn't change in difficulty despite what you might hear. Most schools do not average LSAT scores and so you could reasonably take both tests, or skip October and try December and February as a back up.

Now as far as your admissions chances go, if you want to take advantage of ED applications, those tend to have deadlines by mid November, so taking it in December would put you in the "regular" applicant pool. February is near the end of most application cycles so you'd be jeopardizing your admit/cash incentive advantages waiting to take it then.

I didn't know about the mid january thing, however, with a good mark and good lsat, it is worth it to wait until then i suppose...

i mean my gpa is 3.5 (best two yrs is 3.7 but lets not talk abt that yet)... im averaging in mid 60s in test, but i want to brake into 170... for which i extended my study period these two months...

although i will be down the picking order, but ive seen people be accepted as late as may and stuff with worse stats than me, and my lsat mark improving to excellent percentile should still not reduce my chances, eventhough my application would be considered latter?

so i am supposing from what you said that MOST people write their LSAT in october?

I am in ontario canada, so applying to all schools is REQUIRED by Nov.1 ... so yes i am applying in October, everyone has to, ONLY thing which will be held back by me is Lsat score... which will be written in December 6th,

So i was confused about you saying "applying after December" because i am applying to the schools in these coming weeks..

With a 165 average, what exactly is your high and low score scale?
