PT 55 S3 Q 20 bacteria in hibernation

Postby Cicero76 » Fri Sep 14, 2012 12:00 pm

I got lucky and chose B), but I can't pin down why I chose it over C. They seem so similar, and I was especially tempted because C seems to more closely follow the argument's conclusion--"if bacteria are extremely diverse" seemed close but not close enough to "since bacteria are extremely diverse."

What's the essential difference between B and C?

"IF bacteria..." (IF implies that bacteria may or many not be diverse).

However, the premise doesn't question whether or not bacteria is diverse. It treats as fact that it is diverse ("bacteria are extremely diverse")

ETA: Also, (B) switches the necessary (SINCE bacteria) for the sufficient (IF bacteria). IF statements introduce the sufficient, SINCE, the necessary.
