When the LSAT is taken, does the LSAT proctor walk around the room as you take the test (e.g., through the desk aisles)?

I'll be in LSAT Land while I'm taking the test, but the Sauron-like stare from a proctor inches away from my desk could break my concentration just a little.

I seriously hope they just sit at the front of the class and read Cosmo or fart around on the iPhone and simply let the rest of us know the time.


For those who have taken the LSAT or know what's up- what do proctors do?

At my testing center in June, there were two "assistant proctors" that made sure the proctor did his job. Which was good, because the proctor was basically a homeless guy who had no idea what he was doing, but bad because three proctors is... a lot. The entire test, they paced around the room looking over our shoulders. One of them was wearing really loud heels. On top of that, one girl was whispering "fuck" repeatedly during the Sales Zones game.

Be prepared for everything.

I just read that to my dad and he literally laughed out loud. Sorry it was a lousy environment. I have a good testing center, supposedly, however I was just wondering if they usually walk or sit.

If they walk I hope they don't wear heels. That's horrible.

IIRC, mine was in a carpeted classroom and there were two proctors who just sat up at the front of the room the whole time.

Cool. So, I assume there's a mix of both. Was just wondering if there was "proctoring protocol" or something similar in regards to monitoring.

During tests or in class assignments, when the teacher did something similar to "hall monitoring" I found it to be unnerving.

I can see this thread potentially becoming a "Proctor Horror Stories" thread- which could be entertaining and also make me feel pretty bad for the test taker who had to endure it.

Plenty of those exist - if you want to read some awesome ones, just search around the forums.

However, you should go in expecting to have an awful proctor. Because they exist. They're not the norm, however, and you'll probably have someone who's fine. But be mentally prepared for a mouth-breathing, heel-wearing, pacing, incompetent who can't tell time.

Thanks for your response BP!! You're right, though, I should prep myself for the worst. I guess those over-the-top noises from Simugator might actually be worthwhile. I thought they were ridiculous, but, anything helps.
