A LR question

Hi guys, I need some help here~
In PT2 Section II 24, which is a LR question:

The question stem asks "Which one of the following can be inferred from the passage" and the correct answer choice is (E) Some artists are no less politically insightful than some reasonably well-educated persons who are not artists.

But as I recall from LR Bible, "most" also covers the case of "all" in LSAT, so from the argument "Most of them hold political views that are less insightful than those of any reasonably well-educated person who is not an artist." does not necessarily lead to the inference in answer choice "E". It seems to me that this question simply has no correct answer.

Anyone has any thought?

Best wishes whether you reply or not

I think there was a misunderstanding. Most doesn't have to cover all. It means more than half and can be all but doesn't have to be.

Therefore it doesn't have to be the case that all artists hold insightful views because it says MOST and not specifically ALL.

I hope that helps.

Hi Techsan23, thanks for your reply, I understand MOST doesn't have to cover ALL, but since it may be ALL, we cannot get the inference in E, can we? Or am I misunderstanding the question stem? I think this is a MUST BE TRUE question, so the correct answer choice MUST be true according to the information given.

Max324, I'm terribly sorry! I'm new here so I don't know the rule. Already edited it! I really want to know your thinking about this question too! Thanks!

Some: 1-100
Most: 51-100
All: 100

This is a Must Be True answer, so we should be looking for a weak answer choice. Stimulus uses the word "Most."

a. "no"...stronger than the stim...cross out
b. actually contradicts the stimulus...cross out
c. "any artist"...stronger than the stim...cross out
d. irrelevant...cross out
e. some? weak enough...pick this choice!

As mentioned above, it is a must be true question. So most can be all but doesn't have to be. So it doesn't HAVE TO BE TRUE.

Max324 wrote:Yes, it is true that "most" can mean all. But the stim strongly indicates that this is not the case. The big giveaway is the hedging language -- "when taken as a whole", "rarely".

If political insight and artistic talent are rarely found together, does it really make sense to say that they are never found together? Not really -- this language indicates that political insight and artistic talent are found together, but very infrequently. In context, "most" clearly does not mean "all" in this question.

Thus, we can safely infer that it is not the case that artists always lack political insight.
Ah, so I got it! Thanks so much Max324!!
