The Despondency Thread

I've decided to start a thread where discouraged LSAT studiers can post what awful things the LSAT made them want to do or see. For example, after studying LSAT dreadfully for 5 1/2 hours today seeing some kid wipe out on a scooter in downtown Chicago was hilarious.

Sounds like a good idea for a thread. Where is it?

well, while I was depressed over another 160, I watched this youtube clip and realized that there was something worthwhile other than LSAT to live for -- HUMOR.

I just took a legit hour long hot shower with my forehead against the wall and eyes closed. I forced myself to mentally remember and figure out each of my LR mistakes. That failed and I inevitably started thinking of reasons why LSAC Q-makers were wrong and why I was right. Then I dozed off. Here I am two hours and a swimming pool of hot water used later. Good night

I went on a 40 mile bike ride with my friends and then played starcraft and watched a couple movies.

I'm so good at studying.

I've been prepping all summer, and all I've got to show for it is a box of stubby pencils.

Soup recipe books and dinosaurs make me want to cringe after studying for this horrendous test.

IDK if cats really do get ample exercise from frequent stretching. I like to think they do.

I know we cant use mechanical pencils on the real test, but the amount of pencils I went through, and the exponentially more pencils I had left without erasers made me switch back to mechanical pencils. I could not take that shit.

On the real thing, I plan to have a set of 18 or 24 pencils needle-sharp ready to go, and I will practice getting acclimated to them for maybe the last 1 or 2 PT's before the real thing.

Not worth it at all to make my room look like a lumber/tire yard.

Have you decided which kind of pencils you're going with? For practice tests, I've been using the Dixons, but I've been thinking about Ticonderogas for the test in October. Even though they're made by the same company, the Dixon (non-Ticonderoga) label is clearly an inferior pencil. More than half of the ones I've used so far have the lead off-center in the wooden shaft; most of the Ticonderogas that I've seen don't have this problem. This results in sub-optimal performance in the Dixons, which causes the lead to be partially obstructed on one side, requiring more sharpening. If I decide to stick with the Dixons, I'm going to carefully inspect the ones I take to the test to make sure the lead is centered in the shaft.

Thoughts?

Pack of 18 pre sharpened ticonderoga pencils. They are of higher quality than the un sharpened ticonderogas. Compare yourself at your local staples. Those pencils have a smooth shave each time u sharpen them even after their initial use. Its like they use their best material on pencils they sell sharpened .. so they don't need to deal with the bs of their mass produced unsharpened pencils. Man talkin about pencils makes me want to go get another pack of 18 so I can practice with the one I already have.

Dude, how do you go through so many pencils? Do you end up breaking them out of frustration or something?

Shit, i did a lot of PTs (about 40, some more than once) and i used like 3 pencils the whole time (took the same 3 with me on test day along with a .50c eraser). I actually have a couple of them still. If you're burning through too many pencils, you're doing something wrong different. 18 or 24 pencils for test day? That's overkill, man  .

I've been through a ton of pencils (ticonderoga, the good stuff). I have a really shitty pencil sharpener that eats half a pencil each time I try to sharpen it. It also takes a really long time and often, just as I'm getting close to a nice sharp pencil, breaks the point off and gets jammed. It's actually one of the most frustrating parts of my prep. That's what I get for choosing the $0.99 sharpener at Staples.

Same. I use a separate large eraser and I still spend so much time dealing with sharpening. Mechanical pencils are godsend. To the poster who said only on tls would we compare pencils...screw pencils I'm just trying to make the best of a Shitty situation

Sure, but the rubber pencil illusion works better with traditional pencils.

Ticonderoga sucks, the led dulls very quickly. Any suggestions?

ticonderoga presharpened pencils dude. And a lot of them. Its the only way lol. I just found a pack of 30 online and my eyes lit up. They are completely different from the regular unsharpened ticonderogas. I could not believe it until i put them side to side.
