I did half of chapter 2 in the Manhattan LR. Not a lot of time to study as I had to go to work early and woke up late due to a late night. Feeling good because I know this time around I'm learning correctly and instilling good habits instead of bad habits.

It's better to get quality drilling in rather than quantity. If you are feeling down with losing points take the burners off of drilling and instead really understand why you are losing your points.

Did 15 pure sequencing / basic linear games from PTs 21-40, got -3 total averaging 7:44 per game. Read chapter 1 of Manhattan LR.

7/4/12:

Had some fried eggs and toast for breakfast. Waiting on the second pot of coffee to be ready.

On tap for today are more logic games and then some LSAT Blog posts on games by type, practice, test repeats, and the 10 hardest games. Not sure I'll do anything timed today, since tomorrow is a timed day for PT 29 and 30.

No work for the next five days. I actually wouldn't mind getting a day or two ahead in the study guide. Returning to work after five days off, and taking some time off to go to a dependency hearing, will not bode well for my sanity.

Didn't do much. I went swimming, went out to lunch for BBQ, saw "Brave" with the fam, watched fireworks and did the following LSAT prep:

1) 30 LR questions (MBT/~MBT): -0
2) 6 basic linear LGs: total -1
3) ...planning on doing a little RC work in about an hour

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! :D

Read chapter 2 of Manhattan LR, finished advanced linear games from PTs 21-40. I'm planning on reading a chapter a day of Manhattan LR until it's done while continuing to review games, then take my first full timed PT (#41) in ~2 weeks to see where I'm at.

1) Read ch 2 Manhattan's LR guide--I was kinda worried that I might be wasting time, as I already read premise/conclusion on LR bible. BUT! Turns out, it was a lot more helpful than I initially thought. Going back to basics helps!

2) Printed out all Cambridge's LR question-type training.

July 4

First time posting here.

Today, I:

1. Read the Flaw chapter from LRB

2. Drilled some Flaw questions from PTs 1-10

3. Reviewed mistakes

Question: some of you type out summaries from the LRB... how much does this help?

Is it weird that I read your posts in Brian's monotone voice?

Anyway,

1) Went through advanced linear games in LGB.

2) Started drilling advanced linear.

First time posting as well!

1. Read and worked through the Weaken section in the LRB
2. Did the first 10 Strengthen/Weaken problems from the Kaplan workbook
3. Did 10 questions each from Assumption and Inference, also from the Kaplan workbook
4. Completed the reading section from PT 10, timed. Missed two questions. Bleh :(
5. Fretted about consistently missing two questions from the reading section.

Thanks for the welcomes, guys! I appreciate it.

Unfortunately I haven't done much studying in the last two days. I plan to start getting more seriously into it starting today or tomorrow. I've had a few issues with my medication, but hopefully I will be back to normal shortly.

Do most of you guys in here have jobs, or are a lot of you K-JDs? Because having a job and studying for the LSAT is the pits. It's hard to get motivated to study after a 9+ hour day on the job (I work at a BigLaw DC office as an entry-level paralegal). I'm usually pretty brain-dead when I get home, just from the tedium of sitting in front of a computer all day and doing mindless tasks. Yet this job is still cool enough that it motivated me to go to law school, so I am still psyched to try to nail this LSAT.

Couple questions: Did most of you guys start with focusing on the logic games, since this is the most alien part to someone who has never taken the LSAT before? I'm reading the LGB first to get a hang of these, then going back and going through the other two Bibles. I'm probably going to switch off between the other two (do one one day and the other one the following day, etc.) when I'm done with the LGB. Does this sound good?

I'm also just a bit worried about what happens if I have to retake the test in December. I'm scared this will seriously impair my chances of getting into the school I want, since then I won't be able to apply as early as others. I guess I could send in my application before the December test...?

The thing that has worked for me is getting up around 5:00 or 5:30 and using that time to study or to get household stuff done. Weekends are also pretty crucial.

Try not to get too down on yourself about working while studying. Plenty of people do it, and plenty of people do it with work and families to consider.

And my understanding from the lawyers I know is that many days are still filled with those "mindless tasks". Consider this your boot camp!

First time posting, but I think this thread will be a great way to track my progression and see how other people tackle certain problems.

7/5
Read LG bible for 2hours; did exercises in book and a few LGs from PT 1.

Hardest part about studying so far has been being motivated. I roll out of bed at 5am, work 7-3:30 then head to the lib from 4-6 to study. Going to bring some extra snacks and 5 hour energy shots for the future.

First time posting here and retaking from June, if nothing else maybe this will make sure that I stick to my study schedule (kinda like that feeling of crossing something off a list). Went back to the very beginning since I feel like there was a lot that I missed/didn't understand well enough the first time and read the chapters 1 and 2 in the LRB. The first chapter was a little pointless but it never hurts to go over even the most basic things.

echamberlin8, I worked while studying last time and I'm still working while studying this time. It just sucks, there's not a whole lot you can do about it other than quit your job. I think it's best to take a dinner break when you get home, relax for an hour or so and then just get to work. Weekends are good too because obviously you just have more time.

I'm failing to distinguish the need for this thread when the October mega-thread encompasses all of this in essence. Beta moves.

Dude, I'm glad someone finally said this. That's exactly what I was thinking.

Edit: Just to elucidate for newcomers, people usually post what they're working on in the study group threads. That's why they're there -- to share progress and give advice. There's no need to have two threads doing pretty much the same thing.
Meh

Today

Kaplan Mastery Assumption problems 80-100
Inference problems (don't remember which numbers)
Three new logic games, one basic linear timed (9:14.01), and two advanced liners, un-timed. No mistakes, but, spent far too much time figuring out the two advanced liners.
Read the LRB chapter on Casual Reasoning

1) Read a chapter in Manhattan's LR guide on assumption. I found the two different types of assumption q's (sufficient and necessary) challenging but helpful. I didn't realize there were two types of em when I first casually started studying. I'm going to read over the assumption chapter in the LRB tomorrow and afterwards do couple drills on it.

2) Did 2 sudoku puzzles.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
