NYC Summer 2012 Group Study Session for October LSAT
I am currently preparing to take the October 2012 LSAT and have been studying by myself with PowerScore and will enroll in a Test Masters course in a few weeks. I'm wondering if there are any highly motivated people out there who think it would be beneficial to get a group of us together in NYC once/twice/three times a week to go over a Prep Test/specific sections/strategies or anything else. I'm opening to any suggestions or ideas you may have (including location). Happy studying.

If I'm not happy with my June score I'll definitely be interested in a study group.

I would check out PithyPike's guide, on the front page of this forum. I began a few weeks ago, and am already seeing significant improvement in focus and scoresLoveLife89 wrote:UWS

Same! UWS here. I posted on a previous thread about the lack of available study space in this city...the only library open past 7pm is the one on 5th.woolfiot wrote:If I'm not happy with my June score I'll definitely be interested in a study group.

So it looks like I will be studying for the October LSAT. Is anyone still interested in a study group?

I'm interested! My average is 166 and RC is owning me. I haven't really studied it much so that's my own shit. Again, I'm UWS. I am using manhattan and a little PS bible, but I'm interested in seeing other methods that people might employ.

My average PT was 169, however I scored 10 points lower on the actual test, hence the retake; I think I just fell into a daze the day of the test. I am also UWS and work a full-time job so evenings are best for me. I use straight PS methods and they seem to work for me. RC is my weakest section as well. Having just come off the June test, I think I will start reviewing the bibles again and take it from there.

Re: NYC Summer 2012 Group Study Session for October LSAT
I'm thinking because we all might have different schedules, maybe come mid July, early August, we can try to set aside a Saturday or Sunday morning to take a PT. We can meet at a library or wherever so that we can get that sense of a real testing environment. Maybe some of you have taken the test already so you can speak to the test day anxiety, but meeting every Saturday for our own "proctored" test can at least try to eliminate that anxiety. In addition, trying to meet even before that to go over any problems or just to help one another could prove to be helpful.

So I've gotten into contact with two other members who are willing to take proctored exams as a group. I'm free on the weekends, and would personally prefer to take the test in the morning. We can start this late July or August or whenever people can make it. If any of you are still interested in this, please post on this thread or message.
In addition, aside from taking PTs together, I'm still down for the study group with the rest of you!

I would certainly be interested in the proctored exams. Saturday - perhaps Sunday too - in the morning makes the most sense.

Re: NYC Summer 2012 Group Study Session for October LSAT
Hi all. I'm in NYC for the summer for an internship. Starting my prep now for a retake. It's essentially my first time in NYC (I've only ever been here as a tourist before for no more than 1-2 days each time) and I am wondering if the public libraries would be good study spots. Any advice?
Also I'm down to do some proctored tests!

I'm in the NYC area, too! I probably won't begin prepping until late July though. But, doing some proctored exams seems like a great idea.honeycomb wrote:Hi all. Honeycomb, try the NYPL on 5th ave. I've heard many good things and I believe it remains open later than many other NYPLs.

The NYPL on 5th ave is the only library in manhattan that is open past 7pm. Unfortunately, during the summer, its only open until 8pm on tues and wed (6pm the rest of the week, closed on sunday), so if you work full-time, this poses a problem for studying. As far as using Fordham/Columbia/Cardozo libraries - they are only open to students and faculty.
Anyone have any ideas as to an evening spot that is quiet enough to do practice sections?

Also - I'm down for practice tests on the weekends in the morning too!! I would prefer Sundays, but during the summer I could do Saturdays as well.

Hey I'm in the NYC area with a full time job as well. I'd love to do a study group week nights whenever possible and "proctored" full-length tests on the weekends. My strongest section is RC, followed by logic games, then LR.
Noise doesnt bother me for weeknight study groups in a coffee shop or any other location.

Re: NYC Summer 2012 Group Study Session for October LSAT
Sorry for lack of response - I actually do not have the Superprep tests, so I cannot participate in those as of yet. I am going to try and pick up a new batch of PTs today since I used up all of my old ones - here's to hoping they're not sold out at B&N.
Is Anyone down to do a practice test next Saturday am, perhaps one of the late 40's ones? I don't want to start out in the 50s this early in the game. We could do it at the NYPL - I've actually never really explored that library so I'm not sure how it is set up; does anyone know if they have a spot with tables?
I will also check out the UWS B&N today for another option

I'm down for this. Sorry max for the late response. I'm on my way to take a practice yet with manhattan LSAT. They allow you to being your own test if you want to do super prep B. I'll probably be doing that next week. But I believe the library will be fine. I know the one on 42nd has long tables tht will suffice.
