Re: They just don't understand the importance
I wish I could say it's limited to family and non-law friends, but it's not. Even at work, a biglaw firm in a major city, I get the occasional "Oh, you'll do great! I didn't even do thaaaaat well and it all worked out swell!"
Which is lovely, except your GPA probably smoked mine. And, of course, the whole thing about your going to law school, graduating, and finding a job several years back when the market was in far better shape than what we're currently facing. Excuse me for having to care more about this LSAT deal than you had to.

THIS.
It sucks worse when no one close to you is taking or has taken the LSAT before. My roommate will sometimes text me when I'm in my room or at the library studying and say, "come out, I want to talk!"
When I respond that I'm studying she says I have plenty of time before October and it's not a big deal to lose an hour of studying. Occasionally, if she walks in when I'm studying she'll assert that she's naturally good at logic games and then proceed to give me her advice. When we check the answers, she's wrong. IT KILLS ME!
I just want a good score! At least I have TLS as a resource

And it is ok that your friend gets an answer wrong. She isn't taking the LSAT.

Before I socialize with people I give them a pencil, an LG section, and 8:45 on the clock. If they ace it, we can talk.minnbills wrote:Who wants to associate with proles who can't ace the LGs bro? Get with the programTom Joad wrote:

I have a friend who is pretty stoked about going to OU for law school. I checked their scores/rank and I can't imagine why anyone would WANT to go to OU for law school. Seems like a lot of people who take the LSAT don't understand the importance or have that much ambition either.

OU can be good if you want to work in Oklahoma and you are from Oklahoma.

Why would you want to work in Oklahoma?

Re: They just don't understand the importance
This is exactly why I haven't told anyone, besides fellow TLSers, that I'm retaking.
People don't get it and it's pointless to summarize pages of TLS forums on the matter.
I would just lay low with it and just focus on studying.
Don't talk about it with anyone and just give a generic
answer when they ask how you're doing.

Re: They just don't understand the importance
Maybe because I'm from Texas so I haven't ever heard a good thing about Oklahoma in my life, but besides all of that it just seems really dull, personal preference I guess. Still, I don't think there's any school in that tier or worse that I'd want to spend the money on.Tom Joad wrote:Why wouldn't you want to live in OK?JohnV wrote:He's not from Oklahoma.Tom Joad wrote:OU can be good if you want to work in Oklahoma and you are from Oklahoma.

It's really not their fault if they don't know better, but that questions irks more than anything.

I had so many people ask me if I passed the LSAT, eventually I decided to just say "yep, sure did."sanjola wrote:+1000Malakai wrote:I just get irritated when people ask me when I think i'll "pass".mewalke1 wrote: Now I know I am probably way more stressed about it than I should be and have been but has anyone else have a problem with people around them not understanding how important it is?
