Test Day Strategy

Post by Helicio » Sun May 20, 2012 7:27 pm

Strategy during test day...This is the place to discuss:

1.) What you plan to do during the morning of test day
2.) Whether you have scouted out the test center yet or plan to scout it out
3.) How you plan to make use of your break
4.) What you plan to bring with you
etc.

Personally, I plan to wake up at 9 AM, eat a light-medium breakfast of eggs/toast/tomatoes, and drain 2 coffees before the test. During the break I plan to down an espresso shot I would have brought with me to the test center. I also am planning on scouting the place out tomorrow to see how big the desks are, etc.

1) Wake up 9ish. Eating schedule is something I haven't figured out yet, given that I'm used to late breakfast and late lunch. Before I head to the test center I'll do 1-2 LG, 1 page of late-seciton LR, and one RC passage.
2) I haven't yet. I MIGHT if I get to my hotel early enough the day before, but I'm not particularly stressed about it.
3) Eat a protein bar, drink some water. I might drink an additional 5 hour energy if I'm feeling really burnt out, but my thinking is that it'll take 20-30 mins to hit and therefore will only be useful on the last section anyway.
4) A shit ton of pencils so I dont' have to do any sharpening. Besides that, just some water and the required materials.

1.) Drop my wife off at her work around 9:30. Prob head straight to test center after that 'cause I haven't been there before and don't mind if I get their early (no plans to scout it out).

3.) I plan to eat a powerbar type thing and maybe an apple, use the restroom, drink some water and relax. Often when preptesting I do all I want to do and still have 6 minutes of break left then start the next section early. So maybe I'll just sit and bounce my legs until we get going.

4.) Lots of pencils, my analog watch, identification, ticket, food, one gallon ziplock bag, and some warm-up sections to do beforehand.

I plan to drink my normal amount of coffee, but I've never messed around with that 5-hour energy stuff, or even energy drinks. Should I give 5-hour energy a try before test day to see how it affects me, or stay away from all that junk?

Besides snacks, I'm going to bring
  • 1. water bottle
    2. 10-15 pencils
    3. lip balm - 2
    4. hand lotion
    5. aleve liquigels
    6. hydrocortisone cream
    7. steroid cream for my psoriasis/eczema
    8. hair clips for any stray hairs that might annoy me
    9. contact solution (possibly back up pair or glasses?)
    10. wallet/id/photos/ticket
I will wear a comfortable sweater, pants, and LSAT watch.

I have not scouted out my test center because it's an hour away. I will try to go the day before so I don't get lost, etc. I am HOPING the classroom will be close enough to a restroom and water fountain so I can pee and get a drink in under five minutes during section 2 or 3. I never have made it until the break after section 3 without needing to take a break.

I will do a little of each section as a warm up the day of, I think, like 2 LGs, 2 RC passages, and 15 LR questions.

Oh snap thank you. I def need to bring kleenex. I've had allergies lately and I do not want to be "that guy" on test day.

But in case I am, have to be prepared.

Pretty sure it says room number already! At least on the ticket. I'm gonna go visit the test center today.

My general plan is to jolt awake some thirty minutes prior to the test, sprain my ankle falling out of bed in a sheet-tangling panic, splash some water on my armpits and cheeks, eat a Cert, crudely sketch my face where the picture ought to be, scare away all the taxis because my eyes are lunatic buggin like  , have to hobble my way ten blocks to the test center all bent over because there's no time to pee while tears of pain stream down my face, and then get my 180 and go home and devastate a meatball sub.

Is anyone else seriously thinking about rocking an adult diaper to the test center?

Honestly, I think so. Not that I imagine at all I would need one, but what's if? WHATS IF?

I've already been testing out a couple brands to see which one impacts my normal activities the least. Honestly, Depends is the most comfortable, but because of it's slender fit I've had a few problems with leakage. Not sure I want to take that chance come test day.

For those of you who have sensitive skin, you may want to consider bringing this too

Scouting sounds like a good idea. I was lucky and was able to take 2 PTs in the same room as the real test in the days before. If you can, I'd recommend it so you learn the room's quirks, sounds, etc.

I see nothing funny about standardized test-related incontinence.

I'm taking the June LSAT in South Korea on the 24th and was planning on:

1.) Review the latest released LSAT with the correct answers and explanations for everything to get the brain moving.
2.) Planning to get there two hours early and spend the interim revewing
3.) Chain smoking cigarettes and have moments of doubt where I'm wearing a Cooley tshirt
4.) Besides the required, an extra pack of cigarettes
