I took my first PT today and was horrified to see that I only got a 154. I missed a lot in every section, but the Games and Logical Reasoning sections really killed me.

I still have a year left of school and am taking a year off after ugrad anyway, so I was thinking I might take a couple of logic classes to help me with the LR sections. Does anyone recommend this?

Yes, it will definitely help.

Edit: Oh, and btw, there's no reason to be horrified with that score. Plenty of people (look on this forum for examples) have gone from around there into the 170s. You just have to put enough effort into it and study smartly.

Not necessary or sufficient to get a great score on the LSAT lol

Yeah taking a formal class may help, but they will teach you a lot of extra stuff that you won't really need to know for the LSAT, and at the same time not concentrate on what you should focus on. If you have nothing better to do sure, but that time could be better spent reading this

or prepping with actual LSAT LG questions (of course not yet if you do not want to go to LS for 2 years, aim for 3-5 months out of test date to start actual prep)

And that PT is normal for this site, nothing from that cold score alone that gives a reason to suspect you cannot score a 180 (though of course a 180 is very difficult and takes much work)

I've had experience teaching the LSAT to a lot of students who have taken logic classes, and I've seen very little evidence that it actually helps them perform better on the exam (and in some cases it can cause some people to over think the common sense issues on the exam).

After thinking about it further and hearing the replies, I don't think I'll take a course. I was a bit scared because my LSAT instructor told me that I would likely only increase between 6-10 points, but after looking at other people's increases on this forum, it seems like I might be able to do more.
