Hey. I'm a high school senior right now about to go to college.

Is it still too early to start prepping for the LSAT?

I recently did a quick primer on some LSAT questions. I got 2/3 right, which is kind of pathetic, but I was doing it on a car road trip with the radio blasting (could just be pretext haha).

If it's too early for that, should I just do nothing or are there books I can read? I'm planning on getting Law School Confidential and Law School Insider for some pleasure reading.

I'd say it is too early to start "prepping" for the LSAT in terms of following any of the intense, though certainly effective, study guides posted in some of the TLS forums.

That said, I think studying for the LSAT is a good mental exercise (basically just a bunch of brain teasers/puzzles), so I wouldn't arbitrarily say not to casually mess around with some logic games, etc. Full, timed practice tests would be pushing it, though.

As far as LSC and LSI, however, I would say it's too early since there's little benefit to reading the books as you won't be making a decision about law school for another 3 years. Also, they kinda suck regardless, so you could look elsewhere for "pleasure" reading if that's what you're seeking.

It's good that you're eager to prepare yourself for law school, but you may want to make sure that you don't burn yourself out too quickly. The actual LSAT prep, application process is very stressful, draining, so perhaps enjoy your first two (2) years or so and just hone, develop basic skills like reading comp, writing (for that matter speed typing as well), etc.

Yes. In no way should you to begin LSAT prepping now. It is entirely too early. That is way to long to have a test hanging over your head.

You've got a hell of a lot to experience in undergrad before you start looking ahead to law school.. who knows you might find something you'd rather do.

Starting to study for the LSAT in high school is positively insane. Anyone who would tell you otherwise is insane themselves.

There is way more to life than a stinking standardized test. Enjoy high school, enjoy college, and worry about where you're going for GRAD school later.

My guess is that in 4 years you probably will have changed your mind 6 different times about what you want to do after college.

Don't return to these forums until you're at least a sophomore in college. Try to enjoy one part of your life before moving on to the next...

Focus on enjoying college and make sure you get good grades to minimize how well you will need to do on the LSAT, should you decide law school is the route you wish to pursue.

Other than that, some people will advice that you begin reading a lot of dense material in order to become acquainted with the sort of reading that will be required for the LSAT. Beyond that, any substantial prep will most likely be a waste of time.

I would say that if you are really serious about law school and want to get into the best school that you can you should focus hard on your GPA. Make sure that you do extremely well in all of your classes because most people seem to kick themselves for slacking off during their first year or two of college. Don't let that be you. I would think that your GPA is the area that you have the most control over at this point and that you should focus on it. Reading dense material, as suggested by FryBread, is a good idea as well.

If you get straight A's in school, and perform well but easily reachable on the LSAT, you can go to Yale. One your gpa drops below 3.75, which means a freshman year of too many Bs or a few C, your chances at Yale Harvard Stanford drastically change. Please just get all As this yr you will thank yourself in a few yrs

To add another: Norton Anthology of African American Literature. It's the LSAT's go to source for the "cultural" reading comp passage(s).

I agree with the suggestions of reading dense material.

In addition to familiarizing yourself with philosophy texts, I would add economics, and scientific texts.

The number one priority is to maintain an incredibly high gpa once you are in university, also make sure you take a logic course.

fuck reading anything...you are in your prime now, enjoy life...studying for the lsat is like a full time job

Had you gotten 3/3 and not been pathetic, I'd think you could chill for 4 years.
Since you got a pathetic 2/3, with the radio blasting on a car road trip, which is definitely pretext, you should do the logic games bible.
