What you are scoring now/what you hope to score by June 11

Hey guys,

I thought it would be cool to put down what we are scoring now and what we hope to score by June 11. I'm scoring around 172 lately and by the June 11 LSAT I hope to get a 175 or above. I get -1 or -2 on LR/RC sections but on LG I have been getting -3 to -5 and that is what hurts me. Hopefully I can drill LG to the point where I'm not making as many mistakes on it. I've been studying for a while so that explains why my score is already fairly high; now I hope to start focused study though.

Anyway, what are you guys aiming for, and how are you going to try to attain that?

Diagnostic*: 167 (Did the LGB before taking diagnostic)

Taken 15 PTs so far.
Last 3 PTs: 176, 178, 177
Breakdown is generally -0 to -2 for LR, -1 to -3 for RC, and -0 for LG 8)

Aiming: 180 :DD
Plan: 4 Prep tests a week will exhaust rest of materials by June 11th, and will allow for a break here and there if I'm feeling burned. On days when no PT is taken, I'll be doing extensive review of recently taken PTs. So with about 1.5 hours of review per exam, and ~3hrs per exam, I have about 225 hours of work ahead of me, ~20hrs per week.

LG is easiest to improve! :) (Well, compared to RC at least :X) You are in really good shape to go for a 175+

Aiming 180!?! I like your ambition :).

It just seems that once you are in the 170-180 range, so much of what you get depends on very, very, very small factors. For example, there are always those questions that have two choices that both seem correct (especially under the test's time pressure) and I hate when I encounter those.

Can anyone tell me if this is a decent study plan? Here goes:

Powerscore Course every Tuesday from 8-11 PM plus the homework for it (I recieved this as a gift from my uncle, and I know it is considered useless once you have the Bibles, but I guess it can't hurt to refresh the Bibles--especially since the money isn't mine?)

Kaplan Mastery Prep--Two Logic Games every day from tests I've already done (to avoid spoiling future preptests)

1 Preptest every week, then from May 11 to June 11 15 preptests (51-65).

Thanks! :)

First PT was 172 (last weekend), previous scores are 166, and 170. Aiming for a 180

Also, I thought and hard marked and was doing a countdown to June 4th thinking the test was then  I guess I just gained a whole other week for prep

Not sure where I am right now, I recorded a 163 in June which was below my PT avg.

My goal is a 10-point improvement over the 163 for a final score of 173. Hoping to get as close as possible in June (168 as a goal), and to meet the goal of 173 in October.

I'm taking it in June bc I don't want to put all of my eggs in the October basket, even though I think I'll be better prepared by then. It would suck to skip June and then get sick in October and bomb and be stuck with the 163.

So before PTing for June, I think a reasonable goal is a 168 with the hopes of improving on that in October to 173.

As for your plan I think it sounds good I would just make sure that you diversify your studying and don't focus exclusively on games so that you're prepared for everything. LG is 23ish% of the exam, so I wouldn't focus exclusively on it.

Right now I've been re-using tests (all I have left), but I'd say my current range is 170-173ish, my most recent being 178.

I kinda have this idea that most 173+ scorers could on any given day drop 180, and much of it comes down to test-day luck. So ya my goal is to be in consistent 177+ PT range going into test day to give myself the best shot at that elite group.

Haven't taken a PT since October LSAT (161 :( ) but I was PTing around 163-165. To be honest, I was half-assing my prep and totally stopped like two weeks prior due to personal issues, and I was getting consistently crushed by games anyways. Velocity is going very well thus far, games are becoming a gimme, and I hope to score over 171. Splitter lyfe.

So discouraged...I just took my first diagnostic (cold - didn't know any type of questions) yesterday and got a 148. Logic games destroyed me and I only did slightly better with Logical Reasoning. But, I did very well with Reading Comprehension so that's a plus. I'm hoping that being sick and having constant disruptions (I have people working on my cabinets in my house) had something to do with my low score because I'm screwed if not. I need a 167+ to get into the schools I want to attend. I bought all the Powerscore books and around 40 official Preptests so we'll see how this goes. Good luck everyone!

A lot of people start there and end up where you want to go, so don't be discouraged. You'll do great.

I've been doing things a bit backwards just doing test after test after test without really studying the question types. When I started I was at 148, then crept up to 160, then slowly went back down to a miserable 141 and I can't figure out why. I'd like to be 165-170, on days when I feel ambitious I think I can get 170-175, but none of that will happen until I get back to the 160 I had a few weeks ago. I'm taking a Testmasters course which I hope will help with figuring out the question types and how to go about them because too many times I feel like I'm clueless and just going with whatever sounds best.

Thanks seancris for your positive feedback - motivated me to study today. I looked at another thread about low diagnostics and I'm relieved to find out that if you put in the work, your score can improve dramatically. I'll report back in a couple weeks (after I work through the bibles) with my first practice test.

I have mentioned it in a few other threads before but I started off w/ a diagnostic of 143 in July 2011. 4 months of hardcore studying I was PTing at 160, but scored a 158 on the real thing in Dec 2011. Hoping to hit 165+ in June.

Helicio - I would say that your study plan works, but as you inch towards May, make sure you find out what your weaknesses are and pay major attention to those. For me, I did all of the Blueprint homework but towards the end I started focusing on assumption questions as well as strengthen/weaken q's as those were my weaknesses. I ended up pretty solid on those but should have focused on RC more...which i will do more of this time around!

I really like your thinking here. I have exhausted all the PTs so I am redoing them. I scored a 167 in December 2011. Ive gotten a few 173s and a 176 but obviously they are inflated a few points since ive seen and reviewd them at some point in time, even though i dont have a good memory. I would also like to be practicing in the 175+ range soon. Scoring a 175 in June would be sick.

Just keep practicing them. When you get better, you'll get faster.
