Best way to distract other test-takers?

Post by Haribo » Fri Nov 30, 2007 1:17 am

Well, we all know admissions are a zero-sum game, so obviously the LSAT offers a prime opportunity to distract your competition (lowering their test scores and thus increasing your own chance of getting into a top law school.)

So what are the best ways to sabotage your fellow-test takers? Besides of course the subtle sabotage of internet forums...

I'm leaning towards a combination of some of the following techniques:

1) Smell warfare. There are several options here, ranging from not showering to going overboard on the cologne/perfume.

2) Skimpy clothing. Could a female wear purposefully skimpy clothing to distract male test takers? This could backfire if there is heavy air-conditioning.

3) Sounds. Gum-chewing, a loud watch, cracking of the knuckles... perhaps quiet crying during the entire test. It may take practice to ensure that in creating the sounds, one is not distracted themself.

I am sure I'm missing some possibilities here...

Anyways good luck with studying everyone!

...farting. I think Pyke said he employed this tactic.

I dare you to wear a Yale Law shirt. If you can't get a hold of one, make one with puffy paints.

...wouldn't it be awesome if we started a TLS law school admissions secret society?!?! We could all wear white head bands to the various administrations of the LSAT, and people would be like "WTF?!?!".

We could just smuggly respond, "if you have to ask, you're soo out of the loop."

EDIT: I think this idea is SOO awesome that it needs its own thread.

Also, use Yale pencils with Class of 2011 written on it.

and refer to yourself in the third person as THE ERADICATOR.

Walk in an introduce yourself to the test taker next to you...

"hi there, i'm the ERADICATOR. If you're intimidated by unbridled test taking intensity, or easily distracted by uncontrollable latte-induced flatulance you may want to sit elsewhere."

Would a combination of quiet crying and a Yale Law t-shirt with 180 or bust written on the back work?

LOVE the fact that the avatar mouse is wearing a white headband.

As for the combo tactic, it seems like it sends a mixed message...suggests a chink in the arrogant armour. I would come up with a really dramatic nervous tick like tapping your pencil really intensely or a rapid bodily twitch that smacks of a borderline adderall overdose.

I feel like that might be distracting to yourself as well...

I always rock back and forth when I am nervous and others find it really distracting but I dont really notice that I am doing it.

i remember the first time i took an LSAT diagnostic, i kept playing with my hair. i wasn't at all distracted by it, but the girl next to me asked me to stop in between sections. i wonder if it distracted her that badly.

I literally laughed out loud at that.

I needed to read a thread like this right about now.

2) Skimpy clothing. Could a female wear purposefully skimpy clothing to distract male test takers? This could backfire if there is heavy air-conditioning.
Skimpy clothing and really cold air would be even more distracting. Send me a photo of you in skimpy clothing and I'll let you know. To be honest, the uglier and fatter you are, the better this tactic will work.

When you see a difficult question, say "F*CK!" out loud. When you see another hard one, do the same thing again.

I was thinking about doing something similar.. accept breaking my pencil, throwing it at the floor then gasping for air.
