So scoring in the 99th percentile is mediocre? Ok buddy........ratner wrote: I'm going to up the ante and go with a 173+ will bring me neverending (maybe a week of) boundless joy, 170-172 is mediocre but acceptable, below 170 is a dark pit of hopelessness.

I believe we were commenting on our own personal expectations. I just happen to have higher standards for myself than the other 99% do, I guess.rglifberg wrote:So scoring in the 99th percentile is mediocre? You're just alienating people now. Have your opinions sure but you don't have to voice them like that IMO (fwiw I've consistently scored above 170 as well).ratner wrote:I believe we were commenting on our own personal expectations. That's awesome if you're scoring that high, but you dont have to condescend the vast majority of people who wont score in the 99th percentile. And also, just because you will not be completely satisfied with a 170-172 that does not mean your standards are higher than 99% of test takers, that just means your LSAT abilities are greater than 99% of people, which are not indicative of any level of standard. Good logic bud.ratner wrote:I believe we were commenting on our own personal expectations. Re: February 2012 Waiting Thread
I don't think he is alienating people. FWIW, those are pretty much my same exact feelings. I put in a ton of work and didn't PT below 170 for like two months. I think it's my right to be pissed if I do significantly worse on the actual thing. Maybe he could have picked his words a little better, but really it is ALL about personal expectations and goals. I think the only people who have no right to complain would be those who are 174+ since that is good enough for any school. Like if your goal is to get in to Harvard, you studied for 6 months with a PT average of 175, and then got a 171, you can be rightfully disappointed. Sure you don't have to say that your score is mediocre or whatever, but still, the score wasn't up to your personal potential and won't get you where you want to be.anteater1 wrote:You're just alienating people now. I think it's perfectly okay to HAVE those feelings (I myself have similar sentiments) but on a public forum like this it's alienating to certain people with lower averages.bernaldiaz wrote:

Particularly statements like "I just happen to have higher standards for myself than the other 99% do, I guess" implies that he has higher standards than a lot of loyal TLS posters. Elitist and unnecessary, especially since the OP has so few posts.

I'm just hoping things get as weird as they did during my waiting thread. Maybe if y'all get weird then I won't feel so strange about the insane turn that our thread took. For all of you that don't get the score that you want, I will be seeing you in the June thread. May based god be with you.

Re: February 2012 Waiting Thread
Actually, in response to those who think I'm being condescending, I was merely countering the snide remark made by a previous poster who had something to say about my personal standards. I am not trying to alienate anyone who feels insecure about his or her own LSAT capabilities. Also, in response to the honorable poster who calls my logic into question, as I said, they're personal standards. My personal LSAT capabilities have everything to do with my personal standards. I apologize to anyone who took my personal standards as a derogatory remark towards him or herself.rglifberg wrote:That's awesome if you're scoring that high, but you dont have to condescend the vast majority of people who wont score in the 99th percentile. Oh, by the way, jumping on me because I posted higher LSAT expectations than you is just about the same thing as me sneering at you, and perhaps your intellect, for posting lower LSAT expectations.
That said, no hard feelings. I know we are all just anxious to see scores.

I'll check it when I'm home, lol, hesitant to click anything you guys link at work.
Ratner, what exactly is the correlation between intellect and LSAT score, anyway?
