Man, it's been a rough day.

My LSAT score was 3 points below my lowest (of 33) practice tests -- and -- I just I just got dinged in an email (after waiting 5 months) from one of Harvard's graduate schools, something I was counting on (95%) as a back-up.

This calls for a very tall glass of perseverance...

158. I am content- it should be good enough. Plus, with only 3 weeks to study and working full time, it could have been much, much worse.

Congrats to everybody!! And good luck on our next round of waiting.

So, to those of you who have improved scores since your last test, did you do self-study or take a course? If a course, with whom and would you recommend their services over others?

Mine was self-study (6 pt. improvement, 163-169). I was consistently PTing higher than this (average was around 171), but I'm within that 3 point window of error so I can't complain too much.

I will honestly say that I tapered off my studying between the 1st and 2nd, focusing on drilling question types that I didn't do so well on and taking a couple of full PTs on Sat. and Sun. in the a.m. to simulate test conditions.

However, ymmv, and there are tons of folks here who scored considerably higher than I did.

edit: I would estimate I took approximately 10 full PTs between the December score release and 2/8.

Anyone want a last poll, like how did you do compared to your prediction? Or do we want to let this thread die?

I am a huge advocate of using Velocity. I'd do the velocity prep and then buy some stuff to drill from Cambridge LSAT. If you have 750 bucks (that'll cover both), I highly recommend that combo over any other method of prep.

Seriously though, Dave Hall should put me on commission.

I started studying for this test in December. I scored a 159. Although most of you would consider this to be a terrible score, I am very pleased with it and proud of myself. I only took 10 actual practice tests and the scores for those were: 150 155 155 153 156 156 153 159 156 160. My average was 155.3. I am very happy that I was able to score so highly compared to my practice test average. My 159 combined with my GPA will get me into the schools that I want to go to! That's all that matters right! Congrats to those who worked hard and had it pay off! I've read the majority of the posts on this thread and it seems that many people are happy with their scores. Lets celebrate!!

I'll have to look into that... I didn't bomb it, but a few more points would be nice. I'm taking a year off so more study materials are going to be my graduation gift request. Probably won't be retaking until October though... Thanks!

I took the June 2011 LSAT after one month of self study and got a 158.

Did more self study on and off and retook in December 2011 and ended up with a 165 which was below my average of 167-172. I was nervous and made careless mistakes in LR.

Retook again in February 2012 and got a 170. I didn't study much this time, only did 4 preptests and some drills.

Self study works but you have to be focused.

The studying after putting in 10 hour days at the office sucked. I'm pretty sure my wife is prepared for what law school will bring as we ate dinner together and that was pretty much all she saw of me during the week.

Self study requires a ton of discipline.

Haha I am glad that you improved a lot because of Velocity. How did you make use of Velocity prep? Just solve all questions and watch videos? I am in the middle of Velocity journey, so I need to know how to use it BEST/Most efficiently! Also, congrats to your awesome score! You should write how to study LSAT tips for TLSers :D

So I went through it pretty fast. I did a chapter (or two) per day and took Saturdays off. I wanted to get through it was fast as possible, so that I would have seen all the problem types and been taught by Dave how to attack them. That took about 5 weeks. Then i took all the tools that I learned from Dave and just drilled like crazy using stuff from Cambridge LSAT. I probably drilled for about five weeks doing on average 3 sections a day when I didn't do a PT, and about 2-3 PT's a week. I was testing 175+, got 3 179's, but I'm happy enough with a 174 that I highly highly doubt that I will retake.

"Officials cry foul over education honor

YNN reported Monday that Huston-Tillotson student Delisha Thomas achieved one of the top four LSAT scores in the country.

However, according to the US Department of Education, a letter inviting Thomas to be honored by Education Secretary Arne Duncan was fake.

A spokesperson with Duncan's office said Tuesday that the letter appears to be forged, which is a federal offense.

The case has been referred to the Education Department's Inspector General's office for criminal investigation.

No charges have been filed, and it’s still not known where the forged letter originated.
"

Hahaha no way! Props to the person who called the forged signature. Sucks for that girl if it was a prank, but there was something odd about that whole situation.

So did Delisha fake it or was there some rando third party involved?

I got a 161, which is 6 or 7 below my average from last 5 tests and lower than my lowest PT score. I'm considering having it hand scored because I felt like I didn't do so badly to get an outlier like 161.. what do you think - hand score?

And retake in June.

I am going to have mine hand-scored..I am in basically the same boat you are in...160...and lowest PT since December was a 166. Lowest PT was 163.

When they hand score, is it just for marks, or do they also fix it if u skipped a line while bubbling? ... Weird bc i got a 167 on the pt the day before the test and then...

I might have mine hand scored too. What's 42 bucks for even a 2% chance of another point or two. I had two eraser marks I was less than confident that I fixed. Idk though, I could also lower my score which would suck.
