I hear people saying the curve will be -14 or -12 and I dont exactly understand how it works. Again, I apologize for my stupidity but just need a plain English answer

How many questions you can get wrong, across all the graded sections, and still get a 170.

I think the average is -10 or -11? So when people say, oh it's a -12, that means the curve is a forgiving one.
