Has it happened? Yes. Is it common? No.

Was 141 without any previous prep at all?

The answer is yes, it is possible. But it will be very, very difficult.

I would say a clearer indicator as to yes/no would be this: put in some solid prep for about 2/3 weeks and then take another test. If you can break 150 you know you have a shot. If after 2/3 weeks you can't break 150, I would say getting to 170 would be a long and challenging road.

I have friend who went from the 140s to PTing in the low-mid 170s. He ended up in the 160s and is retaking. Another guy had low 150s and scored a 169

To answer your question, is it possible? Yes. However, when you're aiming for a 29 point increase right off the bat, you will tend to disappoint yourself because you won't achieve that goal very quickly.

I know you're looking for reassurance, but I don't think this is the place for it. Study thoroughly, work hard and be content with your results. Good luck.

Thank you to everyone for the advice. I scored 141 on practice tests without any prior test preparation. My hope is that with good preparation, I can and will break the 170 mark.

If that 141 was your cold diagnostic, I think you can break the 170 mark. My cold diagnostic was 151, and I certainly broke the 170 mark, though that was the second time I took the test.

I would just make sure you're willing to put in months of hard work, and that you have the right resources, which TLS can point you to.
