Question about (gaining) employment before law school

Please don't be offended that this isn't in the 'right' forum. I don't think there is a right forum for this question, but figured some of you might have answers given your time before law school...
How does one go about getting a job as a file clerk with a big law firm? (I'm in Los Angeles and proximity / transportation isn't an issue.)
I've recently graduated from a good school. Philosophy / 3.5 gpa / combined 1 year file clerk experience at mid-level firm.
Do the big ones even hire file clerks? Or is all of the grunt work done internally by beginning associates?
Any verified information, anecdotal findings or hearsay is appreciated.
Thanks!
edit: It seems a few firms have links on their sites to inquire about staff positions, but not many of them do..
