If you haven't been studying LG/ RC like you should... then you know what your problem is. You need to just practice as much as possible to improve everything. Be disciplined. Buy the Powerscore bibles for LG and LR, and go through the whole books. Good luck!

Tough to improve RC, but you should be able to make substantial progress in LG by using the PowerScore Bible.

Thanks for the advice. I heard ATLAS is really good for RC though. Do you know if this true?

Im trying to follow Pithpike's (spellcheck) 3 month study shedule for the December test but this means I only have two months. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I condense this plan into 2 months? thanks!

I was in the same boat you were. My first diagnostic was a 137 or something.. A month later i got it to the upper 140's and stuck around that range for a while until I finally hit the upper 150's and even 160's on the more recent tests. My advice is to spend a full week on each section, mastering them. For LR I dedicated myself to a question type a day, same with games, and then to RC. RC was my most difficult to improve, but I went from getting 12 wrong on games to 0, 15 on LR to 6, and 14 on RC to 5. Its all about how dedicated you are. Mastering one section helped me in improving the others. So break it down, find your weaknesses, and work on them.

You haven't been studying and you haven't been doing well? Is this a trick question?

Honestly, it sounds like law school probably isn't the thing for you.
best of luck.

Unhelpful troll in unhelpful.

Let him/her take the test, then the TLS community can attempt to influence based on that.

I started PTing at 150, ended up PTing 170's and high 160's. While I never was in the 140's, I was close, and here's what I did to raise my score:

1) Give yourself several months to study.
2) Do untimed tests from the late 30's to start (save the newer tests for when you get closer to test day).
3) Try to get every question right. Review the ones you missed.
4) Make sure you know why an answer is right, and why every wrong choice is wrong.
5) I would sort of advise against going to an expensive prep course. I did it, and while the stuff was useful, I could have learned it all from a book in one or two sittings. Frankly, I could have learned it all for free using resources from this site. Prep courses are around 1000-1200$, so it's a big chuck of change. But DO learn conditional reasoning, cause and effect reasoning, and logical fallacies.
6) The best thing for this test is practice. Logical reasoning is an innate skill; that means you're born with logical intuition, but you CAN improve it through practice.
7) Keep track of all your data. Look for trends in test scores, and performance on specific question types.

That is honest advice. If you struggle to get out of the 140's on the LSAT your skill set is probably in an area outside of what is important for law school or a legal career... OP is free to do whatever and I hope they succeed in whatever but it doesn't look too hopeful.

This is obvious reverse psychology. But hopefully, TS, you don't listen to the cynics. You can do it!

Oh, and just beware: people on this board typically score REALLY high. Some of them are pissed when they didn't get 180. That's great for them, but don't let that discourage you in any way. This board is not representative of the LSAT test-taking population in general.

And thanks I'm not..over the past couple of weeks I've realized my problem isn't accuracy its timing- I don't get to finish each section which is leading to my low score so I'm working on that as well as refining my skills.

Of the questions you attempt, what percentage are correct?

That's not terrible. Stop timing yourself. Do them all untimed. Remember, don't use the latest tests for this; you'll need them later on about 6 weeks before the test.
I also recommend the Logical Reasoning Bible. Their system for categorizing questions is pretty standard, and that's a great place to start.

Look...your problem is because you are not studying LG and RC the "way you are supposed to." Why bother asking for helping if you're not going to use the recommended methods?

Your solution is to STUDY THE MATERIAL LIKE YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO.

If you've gone through the Bibles already or taken a prepcourse with TestMasters, BluePrint, PowerScore, Manhattan, etc. then you should already KNOW how to approach it. Start USING it.

Getting 2 wrong out of 18 isn't bad at all, but you need to be able to finish the section. You should be able to breeze through the first 10 in 10 minutes or first 15 in 15 minutes. Then you can slow down and finish the last 10 questions with time.

You must practice LG games the way they are suppose to be practiced. Use the LG Bible and FOLLOW its teachings. Don't do it YOUR way. Do it the LG BIBLE way!!! If you continue to ignore it and do it your way, you'll be stuck forever and won't pass the 150 range.

As for RC, there's really not much advice. You either know how to read or you don't. Try asking people here for some approach advice. Some of it is good. The general idea is just to keep an eye on structure, reasoning, distinctions, and tone.

Are you absolutely dead-set on December test/fall '12 start? I just feel that you are going to need more time than what you are giving yourself; only two months is really pushing it. I feel this way mainly because it doesn't seem like comprehension is the big hurdle for you; speed is. Like someone else said, you need to take an entire test untimed so you can get an idea of what you understand, and then from there work on speeding up your reading and thought processes...you might be pleasantly surprised to find that you not only break 150 untimed but can maybe even do 160 (this is attainable even with a major weakness in LG if your RC and LR accuracy is on point), and it would be terrible to waste that potential simply because you don't have your time down yet. Increasing comprehension doesn't always take so long to accomplish but combining accuracy with speed is a different beast.

On LG, if you would stick to the LG rules you probably would actually finish more questions even if you 'freeze' for a minute, because proper diagrams will save a lot of time when answering questions. That on its own should also help.
