Tips for test day/night before?

Postby CattyPake » Fri Sep 09, 2011 12:45 pm

I took the LSAT in Feb. and got a 166 but I feel like I could have scored higher if I had done more "little things" (I had words with my roommate the night before, didn't practice getting up early, didn't really get good sleep the night before).

The second time around I want to be really prepared. I've been practicing with a watch and trying to get up around 7 each morning. So I'm just looking for advice on what has worked/not worked for others (ie. drinking more coffee than usual or taking something to help you sleep the night before)

I couldn't find a place to park and barely made it into the room on time. I was so freaked out about the prospect of missing the exam that by the time I realized what was happening the exam was almost over. Weirdly enough I credit my score to being late. I didn't have a chance to be nervous about the actual exam and I got out of my own way.

I don't really suggest showing up late intentionally, but that's what worked for me.

Stop worrying, and go have a beer or two (not 10) the evening before. Then go home, get some sleep, and give yourself time in the morning.

I didn't "practice getting up" on weekends, but I was working at 7:30 am so I guess its similar. This worked well for me.

Also, don't drink a soda or coffee before the test. Having to pee mid-test isn't a fun feeling. If you feel groggy and really need a boost, snag a 5-hour energy shot or something similar.

And don't break any habits. If you usually run in the morning, go for your run. If you smoke, make sure to smoke before the test. Etc, etc.

For actual test day, I found that doing a warm up section worked wonders for me. I had noticed from my PTs that frequently all my missed questions were on the first 2 sections. Once I started doing a quick warm up before PTs, I jumped from the low to mid 170s. On test day, I did a single LG, one page of LR, and one RC passage. Took like 20 mins in the parking lot, then I went inside and just tried to be the zen master.
