I'm a military veteran, graduated from Michigan 2002, joined Army, got out in 2006, took LSAT (170), got involuntarily recalled to Army in 2007, just got out in 2010, took LSAT again (same score), now FINALLY applying. I'll be using the G.I. Bill, which covers up to full in-state tuition at public schools, so I have a HUGE incentive to try to get into Michigan. I'm thinking applying Early Decision there.

But these darn Law School Predictors say I have an outside shot at NYU/Columbia, which are really my dream schools. I don't know--maybe 10 years ago, but my LSAT is below both their medians, which makes me think it's a pipe dream (this LSAT inflation of the past couple of years makes me sad--I feel like my 170's being devalued as we speak). Since ED is binding, I'm really wondering just how good a shot I have at Michigan without applying ED. Should I roll the dice and apply ED to NYU instead, or play it safe?
I wouldn't ED to Michigan, but if you have a favorite of NYU/CLS (and are willing to pay sticker) - I'd ED at one of those. You should get in Michigan RD, but CLS RD is not that likely. NYU is somewhat in the middle, but I think an ED to either CLS or NYU could give you the small bump you need.
