Hands down, best pencil: those "Principal" pencils made by Eberhard-Faber that they used to pass out in school. I haven't seen one of those in years, but they were perfect. I don't think they make them anymore, especially not for retail sale.

These are definitely the best, but you need to sharpen them with a knife. Also, make sure to bring an eraser.

Sadly, the knife you'd use to sharpen those would probably be classified as a weapon and earn you an insta-ejection.
