I ended up scoring 1 point above my mean (though I hit my mode) but I was panicking during the last two sections because I felt I screwed up the experimental (3rd section, and I was convinced the 1st was the experimental) and then panicking even more until the score actually came out. This doesn't bode well for (waiting for my grades from) law school exams.
The fact that you knew your mean and your mode of your PTs proves that what you are saying in that first sentence MUST be true.
Haha yes, isn't it obvious that I totally wasn't neurotic at all about LSATs?

I actually created a spreadsheet to help me figure out how to space out my PTs (I only wanted to do the 40s and 50s but I didn't want to run out like a month before the test, and also I was having a difficult time keeping track of which ones I'd actually done) and then I figured I might as well also track which sections I was missing problems on and then...well, it's excel. So setting the mean to auto-update just seemed wise to do :)

Yes.

To be fair it was only like 10 minutes. But I had gotten in such a groove taking them that I was honestly a little disappointed. Plus I had gotten cocky and went out the night before (didn't get drunk but had a couple beers and ended up talking the cops out of arresting my buddy at 2 30) so I thought that if I wasn't an idiot about it I had a good shot at the 180. Ultimately though decided it wouldn't help me in admissions virtually at all and that I shouldn't let ALL my decisions be driven by hubris.

Been averaging 168 on PTs. Taking the real thing in June. This thread topic (difference between PTs and actual scores) is what I probably spend 1/2 my free time thinking about :(

3 pts above average: would feel pretty good about my chances of getting into some T-14s especially if I ED.
Hitting average: would still be extremely happy.
3 points below average: would still be satisfied, but anything much lower I'd retake (might retake anyway just to see if I could do better).

Such a small range of performance has such drastically different outcomes. It's driving me crazy.

Hit my exact average on retakes #2 and #3 (avg went up before retake #3). Also, I love how a certain poster with a 180 goes so far out of his way to not mention his 180. It makes me want to be humble.

If you're talking about who I think you are, +1. His humility regarding a PERFECT SCORE = wow, you're kind of awesome. Not everyone has that level of restraint (I totally wouldn't LOL)

Lol, I'm pretty sure we all know who I'm talking about. I just remember him popping up in my score waiting thread with an SS and a funny anecdote about his parents, and I haven't heard him mention it since, which is pretty impressive considering how many LSAT threads he posts in.

To provide some hope in the face of what seems to be a negative trend, my last 3 PTs were 174, 169, and 172, and I scored a 177.

PT Averages:
Total (29): 172.8
Last 10: 175.4

Test Day: 172

And actually my last 5 PTs were 177,179,178,180,176 .. so not only should you still have hope with a negative trend, be wary if you have a positive trend as well!
