Has anyone ever gone standby for the LSAT?

Also, has anyone decided not to take the February test in Chicago?
The LSAT gods hate me, it seems.
I am scheduled to take the test in San Diego, where I was supposed to be on business. I just received an email from my boss stating that she's canceling that gig because of a medical issue. So it doesn't look like I'll be going to SD after all, which means I am majorly screwed, LSAT wise. (Although it's better than her infecting me with what she has.)
I called LSAC and they said that the only way I can get in to a test in Chicago (where I live) is to go to the testing center early with my LSAT ticket and to get on a standby list and pray that somebody doesn't show up.
Have any of you done this and had success?
My only other option is to fly to San Diego anyway (and have my employer spend a crapton of money that I know she doesn't have) and test there, but then there's the issue of housing/hotels (which I can't afford) and all kinds of stuff.
Any ideas? Anybody know of anybody who is registered for the test but not attending?
