Re: Study Before Testmaster Course?
I believe Testmasters tells you not to study or do ANY prep work. If you are paying them, best to take their advice. Of course it may just be a ploy so that you do poorly on the pretest and then go up a lot so they can claim they were a success.ldo5014 wrote:Hello all!
I plan on taking the Testmasters course this summer from June 25 to August 8 and was wondering how I should prepare before the course. I will have effectively the entire month of May and June free of any commitments (aside from work), so I want to get some real studying done in that timeframe. So I have two questions:
1. I read somewhere on here that one of the Testmasters wasn't real. Is this one fake (ie. not the one that every touts as one of the best LSAT prep companies)? http://www.testmasters.com/LSAT/Texas/H ... Course/BL/
2. How should I study before my prep course? Would it be worth it to try and attend some sort of weekend tutoring session to learn the Testmaster techniques earlier in the summer and study using those before the course?
As a point of clarification, I plan on taking the LSAT in October of this year.
Thanks!

.com is not the well-known company, .net is the "real" one. In Texas they use some other name because of a lawsuit over the name "TestMasters". It's hard to believe they can't figure out how to solve this problem, it must cost them a lot of money in lost sales not having the .com domain.

If I understand the scenario, the fake testmasters only has a trademark good in Texas, but they have the .com domain and offer classes nationwide under the testmasters name. How two companies can compete outside of TX with the same name is beyond me.suspicious android wrote:.com is not the well-known company, .net is the "real" one. Yeah... definitely go to testmasters.net and not testmasters.com. The latter had horrible BBB ratings earlier & just started their LSAT business not long ago.EarlCat wrote:If I understand the scenario, the fake testmasters only has a trademark good in Texas, but they have the .com domain and offer classes nationwide under the testmasters name. Re: Study Before Testmaster Course?
you want to take TESTMASTERS.NET not TESTEMASTERS.COM
It really depends- I suggest reading the powerscore bibles/Manhattan study guide first (but don't do any of the preptest)
-do this two months prior so you have time to absorb the material
take the course ( do their homework, it's REALLY important)
after the class is over, you still have a month or so to prepare
review- then take the test

You probably don't need to prep before the prep course. If you're really chomping at the bit, then yeah, check out a TM weekend course or get with a TM tutor. Since you've picked the TM brand, use them exclusively. Don't try to mix methods!ldo5014 wrote:2. How should I study before my prep course? The only exception to that rule, IMHO, is to check out the SuperPrep by LSAC. It gives a really good overview of the test by the people who write it, and it's pretty generic in its explanations, so I don't think it'll create a whole lot of confusion for when you start your class.
