I think considering the fact that you are employed and don't "need" to start in the fall, waiting and retaking will probably be your best bet. Even though you weren't convicted, I think you will find you need to disclose whatever the situation you are referring to in quite a few apps. I also noticed in my process that the lower you go in rankings, the more all encompassing the disclosure questions are. Distancing yourself a little bit from this (I assume) very recent event couldn't hurt.

It seems clear you don't think your LSAT scores are a good representation of your ability, and a higher LSAT will make a huge difference for acceptances and scholarship offers. You may also want to consider taking in June so that you can have all your applications in and complete as soon as they become available next cycle. Otherwise, if you do retake in October, make sure you have your PS and everything together and get your apps in before retaking. Also, June test is an afternoon tests, if that affects your performance in a positive/negative way.

If you do apply to a bunch of schools this year, you will probably want to rewrite your PS for next cycle, something to consider.

If I were in your position, I would likely hold off until next cycle since your employed, it's "late" in this cycle, and you can hugely impact your cycle by improving your score.
