PT 37 Section 3 Question 17
Can anybody explain this one for me? I don't understand what inference I missed that would have given me the correct answer.

Re: PT 37 Section 3 Question 17
because Farsi can't be on the third shelf, it has to be in the second shelf (since the first shelf can only have one book, and Farsi has to be with at least one novel).
The novel that goes on the second shelf along with Farsi has to be Vonnegut. -> Semantics and Phonology can't be on the same shelf and it leaves us to infer that either of these two will have to be on the first shelf and one on the third shelf. Vonnegut has to be with Farsi because it can't be with on the same shelf as either monograph.
Therefore, following diagram can be made:
////////////H
///////F, W
(S,P), V, (S,P)

Thanks. Misread the rule about one novel with Farsi. Thought it said one book in general, not one novel specifically. Makes much more sense now. And I, naturally, feel like an idiot.
