How much $$ did you spend on all your LSAT Prep?
This might be interesting to see.
Including all of your prep materials and PrepTests, how much did you down on all of your LSAT studies/preparation?

1200ish for a Kaplan course w/ seasonal discount. Went from high 150's to low 170's.

Re: How much $$ did you spend on all your LSAT Prep?
LGB, LRB, and PTs 19-61 came to about $200. Thing I most regret is not starting my studying a little earlier cause I never even used the "10 More", and I bet that if I had I would be one or two points higher than where I'm at now, which is exactly what I need.

Re: How much $$ did you spend on all your LSAT Prep?
I'd estimate $300: 10 More (PTs 19-28); Next 10 (PTs 29-38); individual PTs 39 through 60 (some $6 each through Amazon deal, others full-price through Amazon or Cambridge); LG Bible and LR Bible (the latter not worth the $ in my opinion). I studied for about 5 months and went from a diagnostic 159 to a test-day 175+. I thought about buying Kaplan 180, but decided to stick exclusively with real tests and the Bibles. I thought about doing the first book of 10, too, but by the time I considered it, I'd already taken more recent tests, and I didn't want to mess myself up by going back to old tests that had the potential for being significantly different.

I think I spent about $250-$300 for the LG and LR Bibles plus old PTs and PT books...
...Not to mention the cost of lost leisure time !

Re: How much $$ did you spend on all your LSAT Prep?
All of the bibles together are what? Like 150, I bought 4 tests individually for 25ish, Cambridge hard LR questions for like 20, 10 more LSATs book for 20, and probably 50 more in printing off somewhat illegally obtained PTs, a watch, pencils, etc. so ~275-300
The Knewton class I'm in now is $690, but they owe me my money back if I score anything less than 180 based on their poorly thought out guarantee, so I'm not counting that.

I'm guessing a "score X amount of points higher than a diagnostic or your money back" deal? And you're already at like a 17x?NYC_7911 wrote:What? Interesting question then: Would you pay 690$ to go from a 179 to a 180? Haha I don't want to get too far off topic, but its an equivalent question.

Oh, duh. That makes sense. I never looked into any prep courses so I wasn't thinking along those lines, but yeah, that's gotta be it.pereira6 wrote:

Re: How much $$ did you spend on all your LSAT Prep?
Probably the worst LSAT review book ever (Barron's): 25$
2 separate PT: 16$ total
Scoring a 170: Priceless

Re: How much $$ did you spend on all your LSAT Prep?
$35 on Princeton Review book (waste of money)
$60 on LG Bible (not a waste of money)
$0 on some free books from my friend's old Kaplan course, but they weren't much good at all
$50 on three Actual LSAT books
$5-10 on notebooks
$30 on pencils, watch, snacks, ziplock bag (stuff for day of test)
= $180-185
Most of this money was spent after I took the test the first time and got a 163. Retest earned 171, so you could sort of say I spent about $150 for an 8-point increase.

Re: How much $$ did you spend on all your LSAT Prep?
That's the thing - if you have a baseline of 176 or higher (either through their own diagnostic or an earlier LSAT), then there's no way they can improve your score by 5+ points, so you're guaranteed to get a full refund at the end of the course. Unless of course there's some fine print hidden somewhere that you can't take their course if your baseline is already that high.pereira6 wrote:I'm guessing a "score X amount of points higher than a diagnostic or your money back" deal? $1095 - Steven Klein
http://www.stevenklein.com/
By far the best investment I've made thus far (including my worthless BA). Steven is kind of a legend in the Seattle area.
EDIT: Factor in three or four Americanos a day into this price.

I used an old copy of Barron's and an old Princeton Review prep book. I got a 167.pereira6 wrote:Probably the worst LSAT review book ever (Barron's): 25$

Either they're not as bad as everyone says or I should have used better materials and scored into the 170s. Oh wells!

Probably around $1500 for a Kaplan course, Powerscore books, and PTs 50-59. Definitely worth it.
