"If, but only if" in LG - Left LGB at home PT 56

Post by Rawlberto » Sun Nov 28, 2010 12:53 pm

I have been lacking in LGs lately because I have been working on LR. The first rule for LG #2 threw me off. Should this just be if G helps move S i H helps move R? Thanks!

"if, but only if" implies a biconditional statement. Both conditions are necessary AND sufficient for each other.

If one happens, then the other must happen. And if one doesn't happen, then the other doesn't happen.

You are a true Gentleman. So it's a scenario of both occur or neither occur, correct?

"if but only if" is a not so nice way of saying "if and only if" the rule translates as a biconditional. One of the few, if memory serves on, all PTs

Just FYI OP, the word "but" always means "and." That's a difficult thing to get your mind around because we've been taught that they're opposites, but actually, they have the same literal meaning and differ only in connotation. In terms of logic, but=and.

Don't be discouraged, this game threw me off too when I read that - haven't seen it in so long in a game it really got me. Took me 5 minutes to catch it and had to run backthrough all the problems to make sure I hadn't botched any.
