What happened?????

Post by spencer1888 » Sun Oct 31, 2010 3:20 pm

So I was practicing in the 167-172 range. Got a 168 in Oct. I'm mostly pleased aside from the fact that 7 of my 14 wrong answers came from LR1 ! I averaged -3 in PTs. My breakdown is this:
LR/RC/LR/LG -7/-0/-1/-6. The lg score is within the range I am comfortable with. But -7?!!? Should I retake based on this? It seems like nerves got the best of me in that first section. I'm set on Cornell and don't think I can get there with a 3.49/168.... help?

If you are set on Cornell you should definitely retake.

Work on LG, if you do enough of them you should get down to -0 to -2 tops. That could have put you up to a 172 or so regardless of bombing 1 LR section

I will be re-taking, and the question I asked myself first and foremost is all other things equal, how much will my score improve. When I came up with 7, I figured it was more than worth it. For you, moving from 168 to low 170's would be worth it especially for the school you want, just make sure that on any normal day you would get a 172.

This.

If you can get a 168 with -6 on LG and bombing a LR section, there is no doubt in my mind that if you work harder on LG (doing them over and over again), you should be in the 170's in December. You obviously can read much better than most people. Now it's just a matter of constantly practicing games.

I went from -8 on games in June to -3 in October. Good Luck!
