Let this poll serve as a lesson in self-selecting biases. I scored in the top 1% yet 43% of those who answered this poll scored better than me! :p

I know what you mean. I feel like such a tool telling people I feel like a failure for getting a 168 when I was shooting for a 171-173. Everyone's like "So you got in the 96th percentile, but you wanted to get in the 98-99th percentile and you're acting like you bombed it... what am I missing???" I feel like all the cool kids getting 175+ on TLS is making me feel like a failure hah

Woohoo, I'm right around median at TLS School of Law...

You should separate out 170-173 so that some of this chunk can feel above average.

This would be a terrible idea. I do not want another category or two above my score! Fuck you, my score band goes up to 173, I am in that group!

I always thought score bands were 3 above and below, but mine is now saying 167-171 on my LSAT Status page. 165 in June and 172 in Oct. Is this an averaging of scores thing, or has it always been 2 above and below?

They have ranges I think
anyone who scores 169-173 gets that score band... i think

My score was 170 with a band of 167-173?

If he scored a 172 and his band was 167-171 it must be some formula being applied to both his scores because how could a band be bellow what he actually got?

I think I edited my post between the time you saw it and started to reply to it. That would make a lot of sense though if you adjusted the numbers, because my avg would be 169.

My top schools at the moment are UDub and USC which i think i have very solid shots at (167/3.68 and Hispanic parents). I am also applying to UCLA and UCB but those will definitely be tougher schools and more than likely considers. I'm applying to stanford for just that "might as well" but I am not expecting much. My safeties are Loyola and UCHastings.

You should be fine at UCLA, without question and even Berkley is looking good with URM status. I take it you're looking to stay in California he

It's really tough, man. I freaking loved seattle when I visited and I truly fell in love with that city. A bonus is that my girlfriend loves it too and would be willing to move with me. On the other hand, all my friends and family are here in So Cal. and it has been home my entire life. My mother, of course, wants me to stay here and continues to convince me to stay in the area. The one deciding factor in the end will come down to job prospects and I don't know enough about Seattle's law market to make an educated guess on that. From what I can gather, USC still continues to do extremely well placing its graduates in solid jobs around the area. Only time will tell I guess.

How about you? How are things looking?

EDIT: Catch about URM though is that my parents are from South America (Argentina to be exact) so I am not sure how well that translates into a URM compared to a Mexican/PR.

Looks like you have some major decisions ahead! A little caveat though, it's much better to have an unhappy mother then an unhappy girlfriend :P Just saying!

I'm not applying this cycle and will be looking to upgrade my LSAT so I can have a reasonable chance at Michigan with $. Pretty set on Dalhousie in Canada though, but can you imagine Michigan with $? I can! I dream about it every night :)

$ at michigan would be freaking amazing! How does that whole USA/Canada thing work? Do firms in CA go across the border a lot for employees?

Just sayin' - if we went on LSATs alone, TLS would be somewhere between HYS and CCN.

And if we would remove the URM forum, TLS would fall squarely on HYS territory :D You'd only be left with legacy+donation admits like me with a 164.
