Getting a job > going to law school, for almost everyone.

Hate the job you have? Pay your dues and/or get a job you don't hate.

Would only not hate a job as a lawyer? lol you're wrong.

Haha, that's the plan for now.

Retaking in February and applying early next cycle instead. Now to find someone who will hire me, lol.

This is ridiculously hyperbolic.

If you didn't do as well as you hoped, your first thoughts should be "retake," not give up. If that means re/applying next cycle, so be it.

If you're going to retake and apply next cycle, you'd better be supporting yourself in the meantime. I'd take that to mean you should get a job.

I agree with that reasoning. I took IAFG to mean "if you didn't do as well as you hoped, just give up and find another career." If that wasn't her intention, then mea culpa.

"On down?" you mean Berkeley is the only T14 that might take you. Also most of Berkeley is unemployed. HTH.

I could graduate bottom of my class at Cooley and have a cushy midlaw job waiting for me in Philly. But thanks for your concern, all the same.

The best case scenario of going to law school is becoming a lawyer. If you got a job, you would have a fighting chance of not becoming a lawyer. Getting a job, for you, > going to law school

I mean, I have a decent shot at Berkeley, Penn, Michigan, UVA, Duke, Cornell, and Georgetown (not NW. I have no W/E). I see no reason to worry if I get into one of those. I have more than enough ties to my home region to back me up if I fail OCI.

Michigan and Duke have 25th's this year of 168. UVA won't take you because you're not a resident and Penn likes their high-GPA splitters to be from top UGs.

You might get Cornell/GULC but then you'll be unemployed.

RC fail. I have a guaranteed 125k associate's position as a backup if I miss the BigLaw or public interest boats.

Mmm no. Still not better than not being a lawyer, and there was no RC fail on my part, but I see you earned that 166 fair and square.

Fine. If you're one of those people whose dad is a partner in BIGCHEESESTEAKLAW you might be okay going to law school.

Merely because you went into a career choice that made you bitter and resentful is not reason to act as if you have any meaningful advice to give.

I am happy with my choice, but then, I first got a job, which I hope you will also do.

How is a starting salary of 125k with a peak salary of 500k-1 mil+ worse than trying to get a job with my liberal arts degree?

And Rayiner, jealous much?

Merely because you went into a career choice that made you bitter and resentful already have experience with what we're contemplating doing is not reason to act as if you have any meaningful advice to give.
