Was Oct. test considered easy, average, or hard?

Post by gabletrained » Thu Oct 28, 2010 8:48 pm

Compared to tests from the past. What is the general consensus?

Some may disagree, but I would say that it was on the easy side of average. Especially in the games department

predictable games. RC- average for last few LSATs, LG- harder/novel question types?

LG - easy-ish. RC - easy. LR - pretty tough. Overall a 4.5 out of 10 I'd say where the average difficulty test is a 5. But a lot of people took it and it was an October test so I can almost guarantee a curve of -10.

Average to a bit harder, I would bet a -11 or -12 curve.
The games seemed straight forward... just time consuming.
LR was a bit weird and had a few new question types.
RC was easier (closer to pre-50s) tests on passages 1-3. But the transnational passage was difficult.

LG: Easier than average, but not super easy
LR1: Harder than average
LR2: Easier than average
RC: Average (except the last passage, that one was harder than average)

My prediction: -10 or -11

Remember this is not a representative sample. Logic games were time consuming; most people would not have finished. That may lower the curve. At the same time, Logical Reasoning was time consuming and a bit more difficult, but I'm sure people came to the right answers. I venture -10, -11.

There is also like, 9 bajillion threads on this already.

Also, the influx of people taking the LSAT due to the economy could have made the curve more generous.

It seems like all posters get 170+ ,but I guess you'll need to prove your score, per the new rulses. So no one will be able to make stuff up

I say a surprising -13 curve for the October 2010 test!

not out of the question according to some guy on here who had way too much free time and analyzed the curve as it relates to every June/Oct test since the start.

Most of you are out of your minds.

While some may say it was "easy", that does not necessarily mean they would score higher. With the LG, there were SO MANY hypo's that performance on the LG will be as low as it's ever been. The LR had enough curveballs to trick a bunch, as well as some formidable difficult questions.

Additionally, with all of these students taking the LSAT who have not prepared and are only taking the test of the economy - scores will be down. If the curve is lower than -12, I'll be shocked and I'll completely eat crow. However, I'd be just as shocked if the curve was lower than -14.

I am certain that it will be -15 and we are in a trend that will lead to a -20, within the next 5 years.

weird new LR.
average RC (based on recent ones PT 55+)
easier games but a couple of tricky things/possible rule messup --> time constraint

I thought overall it was much easier except for the 26 LR, which had a handful of tricky questions.

Basically my feeling is there is a HUGE population of those taking the LSAT who aren't adequately prepared. This LSAT was easy for those who were fully or over prepared but presented huge difficulties for those who didn't prepare enough.

In five years will all Tier 1 and 2 schools then have a median LSAT of around 168?

Its quite difficult to actually get a consensus and thus can only be based on your performance. Logic games were tough, LR were about average and perhaps a bit easier, and RC seemed normal.

Perhaps. I don't know the historical data, but haven't top schools' medians been going up - already?

At the end of the day, the test is getting harder (harder games - which were designed in response to test prep companies) and students are less prepared which leads to the need for a bigger curve.

Like I said, I'll eat crow but it's going to be another huge curve and I think we've seen our last single digit curves.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
