For one thing, you can track available material (assuming you wish to take all released tests). On the nights I didn't take PTs, I took individual sections. It can be difficult to keep track of what sections you have completed without flipping through your books.

Secondly, it tracks your scores for individual sections. It probably doesn't do you much good to know how you were scoring on certain sections when you first started, but keeping track of your weekly scores/averages can be advantageous.

Lastly, it tracks individual question types if the user chooses to use that function. As I've explained, it sometimes helps to know your weak points.

And you would calculate average on your own for each question type? Or did you think averages calculate themselves? Sure your proposed spreadsheet could do this. However, you’d have to update the formula each time.

=Average(3,5,4,2,6…..

Sounds like the same amount of work (if not more) to me.

Another manual calculation that you propose would result in less work. I’m not saying calculating averages aren’t easy. I’m saying they fall under that ‘unnecessary’ category aschup was talking about.
