I believe setting realistic goals has helped me. Things come fairly easy to me, so when I first started prepping I expected it to come with ease. When I was met with a challenge, I panicked. My mental state was thrown into a bit of a whirlwind, and my confidence was shot. I then took a step back, and looked at what my goals were. I started taking small strides, and recently I have been feeling 100% more confident and it has shown through my scoring. It sounds dumb, but you really do need to ATTACK the questions. I began to relax and have confidence in myself. This is a heavyweight fight (excuse the cliche) but I really needed to just give myself a chance. This site definitely helped. I don't know anyone personally going through the test, so reading up on the forums made me feel way more comfortable. Confidence is key. Let's KILL this test on Saturday. I believe in my bones that I will break the 160 barrier.
Good Luck

Re: Setting realistic goals
Not taking until Dec., but I'm definitely with you on that the first phase of studying (knowing the question types and becoming comfortable with them) is the hardest part. Was originally going for Oct, but I was real slow studying at first just because of how bad I was doing, especially at games (which is slowly becoming my best section).

step by step. it can be frustrating, especially with all these people on TLS saying they're trying to raise from their initial diag of 170 to 178 but your attitude will help you immensely. best of luck.

Re: Setting realistic goals
I just posted about this today. My diagnostic: 141. My latest score: 156. I believe that by the time December comes I will be able to score a 165. It took a month of hard studying, but I am getting closer and closer to 160. Aslong as you work at it, you will continue to see improvement.
