What time should I get to the Test Center?

Post by RFKScott » Thu Oct 07, 2010 12:53 pm

Subject line basically states my question. Should I try to get their at 8:00, 8:30 etc? Obviously I would prefer to be a little early but im kind of unsure what we have to do before going into the room.

For June 2010 I arrived at USC 45 mins ahead of time. The proctors will still have to line you up and make you wait 20-30 mins while they explain obvious rules and regulations, so 8:00 is a cool arrival time, maybe even 8:15

Are you saying that even at 8:30, the proctors will still line you up and make you "wait 20-30 mins"?

Because that would mean you can comfortably arrive at 8:30, and still be on time?

This is the case.

Above is correct. From my experience the test won't actually start until between 9:00 and 9:30 and if you show up early all it means is you sit around silently with all the other silent people longer.

I would get there at least ten minutes before 830 because that is when they stop checking people in. You will have to check in before you can go to your assigned room. I took it in December and saw a few people not allowed to come into the building once 830 rolled around. Better safe than sorry. It really all depends how Nazi-like the testing people want to be that day

This really depends on the testing center and which room you get. I happened to be in the biggest room during my (June) administration, so we got out an hour (no joke) after the first room was released. It took forever to check everyone in and out, both at the beginning and end as well as during the break.

I showed up at 11:30 (ticket said no later than 12:30), got out at around 6 PM.

Do not underestimate how hungry you will get - I was foolish and did not think I would need a snack during the break, but I was STARVING.

To the OP: I would say half an hour prior is sufficient. If you are nervous about getting lost, just show up a little earlier and chill out in your car or something. It's kind of a pain to stand around for an hour, listening to everyone else around you talk about their PTs and study habits and future plans.

if u know where it is/KNOW there won't be any fluke accidents/road closures etc etc etc
then get there around 8-8.10. No later than 8.15. Definitely no earlier than 7.45 unless u plan on napping there lol.
