Please help. Pt 37, Sec 3 game 1. Q 1-5
I'm having a lot of trouble setting this question up and especially getting through question 1. If possible would somebody be able to explain how to go about this game and also explain q1 please. Thank you for any help.

I'm not so familiar with LG terminology that may be used here, but here's what I see. (For purposes of setting up the game, extra information inferred will be in italics.)
1. You have 4 dorms with 2 wings each:
RN RS
TN TS
VN VS
WN WS
2. Each wing will be assigned to either Males or Females. Three wings will be assigned to males, from which it quickly follows that the remaining five will be assigned to females.
3. If a dormitory has males assigned to one of its wings, then its other wing is assigned females.
This means that there will not be a building with two male wings...therefore there will be three buildings with one female and one male wing, and the fourth building will contain two female wings.
4. RN and TN are assigned females.
5. If Males are assigned to VS, then WN is males as well.
This immediately splits the game into two possibilities, one where VS is male, one where VS is female. If we take a look at the first:
RN-F RS-?
TN-F TS-?
VN-F VS-M
WN-M WS-F
We can forever pencil in RN and TN as F from 4 above. Since we know from 5 that VS and WN will be both male in this first case, VN and WS have to be female. This means that only RS and TS are questionable, one being male, one being female.
In the second case:
RN-F RS-?
TN-F TS-?
VN-? VS-F
WN-? WS-?
We know a lot less, since there are no males definitely assigned to any wing. Remember that WN does not have to be female as well, since VS-M would be sufficient but not necessary information for WN to be male.
So for question 1:
If females are assigned VS and VN,
This means we're dealing with the second, up-in-the-air case. Additional information given is that VN is also F. We have:
RN-F RS-?
TN-F TS-?
VN-F VS-F
WN-? WS-?
Referencing back to 3 up above, we know that we're going to have three M-F dorms and one F-F dorm, which we now know is going to be V. This means that R, T, and W will all be M-F dorms. With the addition of this information:
RN-F RS-M
TN-F TS-M
VN-F VS-F
WN-? WS-?
The question itself is looking for two wings that are also F wings. Since we know RS and TS are going to be M, any choice with those two can be immediately thrown out. (A, B, C, E) This leaves only one answer choice standing, which you can probably assume is therefore correct.
