I am having trouble understanding the difference between answer c and d for no. 7
For no. 8 I chose E. To me the argument seems as if there is two paths. One path is bad, but the second similar path is good, so choose the second because you'll get your desired result. What am I missing for these two?
Thanks.

the important thing to recognize is that this is an assumption question. d can't be the answer because that would be circular reasoning.
8
the argument isn't about two paths. both sides of the brain can generate thoughts which keep people awake. counting sheep occupies both sides of the brain so as to prevent thoughts that keep a person awake from coming up. in light of this B should be obvious.
